Their self-titled debut was recorded and produced by Ryan Hadlock (Blonde Redhead, Metric, The Gossip), at Bear Creek Studio in February 2007.Upon release, Itunes featured the album on their Indie Singer-Songwriters page, Starbucks added the record to their in-store playlists, and “Faster than Cars Drive†topped the blog charts on Elbows. Colour Revolt (Fat Possum), with SNOWDEN State Bird and Hey Sandy
adv tix $10 at ticketweb.com
Band bio for Colour Revolt which I don’t know how to write, and God knows I’m trying. Starting with the obvious: there’s a lot of guitars in Colour Revolt. But they’re not dumb guitars, that’s what I’m saying. It’s pretty sometimes, sure, but it doesn’t do to leave gorgeous alone, and sometimes you have to punch the blushing bride in the face, you the low-hearted puggish bridesmaid with nary a suitor. Ugly babies born with buck teeth which will fall out only to be replaced by wolf fangs. All of your children need braces, says Colour Revolt. All the dogs are better christians than we are. At best one can approximate the howl, but it isn’t worth much. What I’m saying is, all your ugly babies will grow into baying canines who love Colour Revolt. We’ll all go to Oxford together, a city famous for its many dignified dead, and get bit by the mosquitoes that come at you like pteradactyls with all their raging prehistory. We’ll all have the same disease. All our hidden pasts, what our gandparents wrote. And it will be fun and hurt in our bones. The insects will grow fat on our blood. And what of it? The dogs will outlive us, by God. And they deserve it. What have you ever done?To be bludgeoned to death by sound, by music, says Colour Revolt. We have you and are not afraid.
"Snowden's music sounds like Interpol's dark momentum getting tripped up on the Arcade Fire's treacherous terrain - lacquered bolts of guitar judder over off-kilter percussion, and anomic vocals blear through the densely layered mix."-- Paste Magazine

Anathallo with Dosh , The Speedbumps and the Rachel Roberts Band
Tickets are $8 presale at ticketweb
The word "anathallo" is Greek, and it means to renew, to grow, to bloom. For more than five years, we have watched Anathallo do exactly what that namesake promises. What began as a youthful post-punk ensemble has since become a genre-hopping live music phenomenon. With more a dozen independently booked U.S. tours (and two dead vans) under its belt, the group continues to bring celebratory, theatrical "marching band gone wild" performances to a growing grassroots fanbase. Toting horns, piano, bells, guitars, chains, pipes, and "found object" percussion (like scissors, Velcro, and balloons), the seven members have won over even the most jaded hipster audiences with their energetic shows and distinctive musical style. Critics have compared their bombastic, entertaining stage presence, and collaborative spirit to the Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, and Broken Social Scene. A 2005 Paste Magazine "artist of the week" feature summed up Anathallo's expressive character by noting that the group "nestles itself somewhere between Ian MacKaye's DIY ethos and Sigur Rós's pointed emotionality." Anathallo has released four independent albums, the latest being Floating World (2006), with a new record on the way in 2008.

The Strange Familiar The Strange Familiar is the brainchild of two young musicians who’ve been performing and writing together since they were 14 years old. Kira and Jeff met in grade school, and through the years have developed their soulful rock sound that is equally heartfelt and powerful. After ten years of performing and selling thousands of CDs with their former band, Jaded Era, they not only have made themselves a staple in their local music scene, but their catchy songwriting skills also garnered them major label attention. Ashlee Simpson recorded and released "Invisible" (21 Billboard, 1 iTunes) as a single for her platinum selling album, "I Am Me"; a song Kira and Jeff penned when they were only 17. After spending most of 2006 writing and recording demos for their new project, Kira and Jeff were ready to return to the studio. This time they were extremely blessed to work with producer Brian Malouf (Dave Mathews, Everclear, Lisa Loeb), for several weeks in Studio City, CA. With the launch of their new EP, Kira and Jeff have recently decided to relocate to Los Angeles along with their bass player, Frank Freeman, whose drive and love for music matches their own. The Strange Familiar’s 5-song debut EP, captures the essence of their music in a way that is both truthful and inspiring, intimate and yet powerful. "You Can’t Go Back" is aptly named as a reflection on all that these young musicians have been through, and where they are now headed.

Black Diamond Heavies with The Suede Brothers
Gospel-blues-punk preacher-isers John Wesley Myers and Van Campbell baptise you in beatific raptures of Hammond, Rhodes and Drums, literally stripping the sound down to its scantily-clad soul. Almost too perfectly Myers is the literal son of a (Baptist) preacher man, whereas Campbell descends from a Bourbon-distilling family. As it is, you can absolutely bloody tell too, such is the whiskey-swilling testifying herein. Voodoo shuffles its sinicious way through...
