Childe Burun is a joint project between Jen and Markus.
The project officially came into being in 2004 although Jen
and Markus have known each other since they were children.
Jen took up the flute and piano at the age of five. Markus has
played the piano since he was seven and also plays trombone.
A background in classical music has helped shaping their
musical tastes but it does not form the backbone of their style.
Childe Burun´s sound is influenced by almost everything,
starting with C-64 to classical via folk and everything in between.
The 13 tracks, many facets and a touch of romanticism have
become a shimmering sensual soundscape. The songs range
from acoustically arranged, carefully woven compositions, a fragile
lullaby with reverb and tremolo up to digital electro sounds with
woozy keyboard effects, tinkling pianos or spooky theremin-lines.
Each of the songs was written, recorded and produced by Childe Burun:
Jen (vocals, piano, echo choir, guitar, programming), Markus
(synthesizer, electronic carpet of beats, add piano, programming,
theremin, bleeps and sirens) with a contribution from Jonathan Weigle
(cello). The tracks were recorded in Berlin in 2006.
