Like a Thief in the Night.....

About Me

No one quite knows the exact moment when Nea went from being the little girl who sweetly sang gospel in church, to the powerhouse singer/songwriter that she is today. But all would agree that the transition seemed almost effortless. You can still hear her rich gospel background in the melodies of her songs. She also brings a sense of humility to her songs through her messages of self-love, and respect. She connects with audiences because she sings about situations that they can relate to. It is because of her dedication to her art and her determination to share it with others that Nea is no longer just winning over the hearts of her hometown fans. Her uniquely sounding soprano voice has afforded her the privilege to sing for the masses, showcasing her talent as not only a solo performer but as songwriter with as much insight as a seasoned professional.Nea graduated from a four-year university were she studied music. She also studied under Jazz recording artist and Professor of Jazz music, Darrel Grant. But Jazz music is not the only genre of music that Nea performs. She has studied and been trained in classical music. Her musical inspirations are Billie Holiday, Cassandra Wilson, Lauryn Hill, India Arie, and Rachelle Ferrell. It is this collective mix of sounds, genres, and styles that make Neas music refreshingly original. She introduces herself to us with four strong songs that showcase not only her singing talents, but her song writing ability. Much of who Nea is as a person comes through in her lyrics. Her ability to combine emotions, feelings and a strong voice leaves audiences in tears, truly touched by her live performances. As a professional, Nea started by singing around her hometown of Portland, Oregon. She has been honored to sing the National Anthem at numerous professional league-sporting events. She has also performed at the White House as a special guest. She got the crowd excited as an opening act for the Hip Hop band THE ROOTS during a tour stop. During a tour of Europe she performed at many venues including that of the world famous West Minister Abbey. Nea recently made the decision to relocate to the east coast where she splits her time between Washington DC and New York City.
