Life is all good if you see it that way.

About Me

Ho hum... what can I say about me??? Well, I am a Sagittarius, which means I, "spit hot fire!" Just kidding well, maybe a little. I am LSP or LiL SoSo Productions. It is my latest incarnation in this lifetime and it suits me quite nicely. I manage and develop artists and do event planning. The company is named for my baby sister who in a lot of ways was spiritually speaking, my first-born. Her name was Sofiyat and my brother called her...you guessed it, lil soso. She transitioned on June 15, 2001 and I owe much of who I am today and all of my future success to the 15 years she spent on this earth teaching me about life.

On August 13, 2004, I quit my job as a trade association director to pursue this destined path full-time. God told me it was time to take the leap of faith and me not being one to argue with the likes of the Creator did as I was told. So far, so good. I haven't missed a mortgage payment, and my lights are still on. I am on the slow build, working with an eclectic roster of artists. See How We Do...

My Interests

Running the business, listening to GOOD music, pottery (I need to get back into that), traveling, reading and watching Adult Swim and the History Channel. I also do yoga and am really interested in the use of herbs for medicinal purposes.

I'd like to meet:

This is a hard one. The people that come to mind are: Russell Simmons, Tanaverie Due, Octavia Butler (RIP), Marita Golden and Sade. I am sure there are others.

Music:

I like all kinds of stuff and with the help of Stylus, Jamil and others, I am kept in the loop. I will update this section as I get exposed to new stuff, but things I am listening to now are:
1. Stylus- "Project Vibe ..1"
2. Roddy Rod-"CUBA: Aftermarket"
3. John Arnold-"Style & Pattern"
4. HYB- "So Heavy"
5. Ne'a Posey- "Gotta Be"

Movies:

"The Color Purple," my all time favorite.
"Black Orpheus," got to get another copy, someone stole it!
"The Red Violin"
"Sense and Sensibility," don't sleep it's a good flick.
"Usual Suspects," like I need to explain.
I am also a James Bond and Indiana Jones junkie.

Television:

I am a cartoon junkie!!!
"Squidbillies"
"Samurai Champloo"
"Family Guy"-Stewie in 2008
"Aqua Teen Hunger Force," it's all about Meatwad.
"Big O"
"Inuyasha"
"Samurai Jack," CN needs to stop playing and bring it back
"Justice League," finally some black super heroes!

Books:

There are so many, but here are a few of my favorites:
1. The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho-Everyone should read this book. It is life changing.
2. Their Eyes Were Watching God-Zora Neale Hurston-Read about the real Janie, not the one you saw on tv.
3. Souls of Black Folk-W.E.B. DuBois hit the nail on the head at the turn of the 20th century.
4. Waiting in Vain-Colin Channer-A beautiful love/life story.
5. The River Where Blood Was Born-Sandra Jackson-Opoku-Deep and riveting, but requires complete solitude.
6. The Seasons of Beento Blackbird-Akousa Busia (Nettie from "The Color Purple"). You have to read it to believe it.
7. Memnoch the Devil-Anne Rice-This book throws you on your ass, in terms of what you think you believe.
8. My Soul to Keep, The Living Blood, The Good House-Tanarive Due-can you tell that I love this writer?
9. Celestine Prophecy-James Redfield-Yep, it is that good.

Heroes:

My heroes are very close to home. The first and foremost is my mother. She managed to tell and show me the things that I would need to survive life without her. The second is of course my sister Sofi. Facing her death head-on, is the hardest thing I have ever done and the most beautiful. She taught me the true meaning of love and how to accept the humanity in everyone around me.
