That's bullcrap

About Me

I pretty much rock the house...well, maybe not, but I'm not that bad of a guy. I grew up in Tuscaloosa, a small city in the great state of Alabama. Now I know that many of you probably think that I am a backwoods redneck due to my place of birth, and I know that listening to me talk with my southern accent (that I swear is barely perceptible no matter how many people tell me otherwise, and there are quite a few who tell me otherwise) wouldn't do much to change that perception, but I think that I am pretty much like everyone else. I struggle through life one day at a time, sometimes loving it and sometimes not. I'm not sure exactly when it took place, but at some point in my life I realized that life seemed pretty much pointless. We live, breath, eat, sleep, work, and occasionally have some fun, but I wondered what's the point. What was I seeking to accomplish? I found the answer in the form of a relationship with Jesus Christ. I discovered that Jesus was my God, a God who I had turned my back on to pursue my own personal desires. I owe Him my very existance and yet I shunned Him. It was not until I realized that my life should be lived in light of my relationship with Him that I found purpose in life. Up to that point I had trusted in my own strength to carry me through life. It is not until I found that relationship that I found a sense of belonging in this world. If my experience sounds at all familiar to you, if you feel there must be something more to life, drop me a line and/or check out the book of John in the Bible to learn about who Jesus is. Another thing that helped me in my journey was Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. Just a suggestion of something that helped me. I am now a student at Dallas Theological Seminary working on my masters in Biblical counseling. I also work with a youth group in Plano at Fellowship Bible Church North. I hope to soon be working in the field of counseling. My desire is to help people through hard times. We all have them, some are just better at hiding them than others.

My Interests

sports, music, games, reading, kicking it with the homies, hunting, etc. You know, the normal stuff for a good ole southern boy.

I'd like to meet:

eeh....not too particular. I'll shoot the breeze with anyone. Always like to hear other opinions.

Music:

U2, Guster, Mae, The Postal Service, David Gray, Cake, old Vertical Horizon stuff, Duncan Sheik, Foo Fighters, Coldplay, a limited amount of country, Marvin Gaye, any smooth r&b, rap is a guilty pleasure along with bluegrass...well, you get the picture, pretty much anything that is good. this is just a small sample of my impeccable tastes...or something. Oh, and gotta give a shout for my brother-in-law's band Pivitplex.

Movies:

Garden State, Last of the Mohicans, Braveheart, Gladiator, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Lord of the Rings, old Star Wars, Vanilla Sky, O Brother Where Art Thou?, Tombstone, 28 Days Later, Orange COunty, Hi Fidelity, Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2 to name a few.

Television:

Simpsons, Arrested Development. i don't watch that much, but i do have a tv viewing problem. as i flip through the channels, anything that you would classify as laughably terrible tv draws me in. some examples are infomercials, tbn, that show that has the pirate nun, and those terrible shows for children (teletubbies, barney, crazy town,etc.). i don't plan to watch them, but they are an irresistable force for me. i find them riveting. for instance, if i were flipping through the channels and saw mc hammer being interviewed by the purple haired lady, i would probably be stuck for at least 5 minutes...

Books:

The Chronicles of Narnia, Mere Christianity, A Grief Observed, The Space Trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, The Three Musketeers, The Hunback of Notre Dame, The Last of the Mohicans, The Fire and Ice Trilogy, The Wheel of Time, The Name of the Rose, The Count of Monte Cristo, Ghost Soldiers, the Bible, Desiring God.
