About Me

i'm pretty much like the rest of humanity except that i'm mildly obsessed with trees, and the poems of denise levertov and mary oliver.

My Interests

people, being in the woods--especially in the mountains or near a river, healthcare, other countries, books, spirituality and religion--mostly Christianity, poetry, Shannon Lauer's hair, music, and I can pretty much become interested in a lot of things. . .i think it's because my dad knows a lot of random information-- and it's fascinating.

I'd like to meet:

right now? my mom-- (i've already met her) but for the past couple of months i've just wanted a mom hug.

Music:

lots, but most consistently: Over the Rhine, Handel's Messiah, Iron and Wine, Counting Crows, Radiohead, Cake, U2, Indigo Girls, R.E.M., Rachel Farrar, Saltwater Merchants, Tom Petty, James Taylor, Ray LaMontagne, Sigur Ros, Coldplay, Yo-Yo Ma, Weezer, The Cranberries, Sarah McLachlan, various Hymns, Les Miserables soundtrack (British version). If Shannon Lauer's hair composed some music-- i'm sure i would love that too.

Movies:

Mansfield Park (the newest version with Johnny Lee Miller in it),What about Bob, Amelie, Anne of Green Gables, 5th Element, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Zoolander, The Pianist, While You Were Sleeping, A Mighty Wind, The Princess Bride, Billy Elliot, and any movie that has Shannon Lauer's hair in it.

Books:

Les Miserables, The Stream and the Sapphire, Why I wake Early, The Art of Drowning, The Brothers Karamazov, Letters to a Young Poet, Chronicles of Narnia, Till We have Faces, Total Surrender (Mother Tereasa), The Pursuit of God, Crime and Punishment, C.S. Lewis' space trilogy, At the Backof the North Wind, A Circle of Quiet, A Wrinkle in Time, (pretty much anything by Madeleine L'engle)Where the Red Fern Grows, Island of the Blue Dolphins, About a Boy, Kite Runner, The Tale of Despereaux, the Hobbit, the Lord of the Rings, and the possibility of a book written about Shannon Lauer's hair. I also really like various plays and short stories that I've read in English classes over the years: The Tell-tale Heart (E.A. Poe), stuff by:Shakespeare, Flannery O'Connor, Henri Nowen, and Thomas Merton, Thomas Aquinas, Soren Kierkegaard, Augustine, etc. etc.

Heroes:

shannon lauer's hair.

My Blog

a poem by Mary Oliver

Trout Lilies It happened I couldn't find in all my books more than a picture and a few words concerning the trout lily, so I shut my eyes. And let the darkness come in and roll me back. Th...
