This all-girl power punk trio isn't what you would expect - Formed in early 2002, The Dames - Ceizy(guitar), Drea Doll (guitar/vox), Thrashley (drums/vox), and Ms. Butcher
(bass/vox) - demonstrate an unusual combination of heavy belligerence with
melodic flair, cynical wit with blatant sincerity. These ladies will rock your world in every room of the house, clear out to the parking lot. While their energetic stage performance exhibits a "party hard and play harder" mentality, this tight, punchy four-piece's unapologetic style will ravage your ears with their mix of punk and rowdy rock n' roll. The result - an aggressive charm that is sure to haunt you.
Released October, 2004 - "Take A Number", the Dames' follow up to the 2003 EP "Sin and Tonic", earned the Dames rave reviews, "These ladies rock hard" (www.ffruk.com) and some going so far as to say that the trio "have truly captured the spirit of what Punk should be on this release" (SLAM Magazine), and the record was voted Album of the Year at Phoenix's 2005 SkaPunk Awards, followed by appearances at the Phoenix date of Warped tour and a gig at the birthplace of punk, CBGB in NYC. The Dames have continued to maintain a strong presence in the Phoenix punk scene for over six years.
Birthed from the womb of the AZPunk.com community, they have won multiple awards including Best Female Band at the 2005 AIM Awards, and nominated as Best Punk Band two years in a row by the New Times' Annual Music Showcase; "Their knockout looks, only thinly veiled behind flailing hair and tattoos, have made them the sweethearts of the thriving Arizona punk scene." (Phoenix New Times, April 2004) More than just a pretty face - or three - this
irreverent threesome will rock you with finesse and a style all their own.

THE DAMES Take A Number:[The Dames] have written an album that I thought would never happen. They..ve managed to catch capture the atmosphere of early 80..s Punk and add a modern day feel to it which is very apparent on the opening track ..Whoah Is Me.. and ..Time For You.. both which would have featured very nicely on ..The Crew.. album by HC Legends 7 Seconds. There..s also quite a bit of early Black Flag influence on here which can only be a good thing and what..s more despite taking turns on vocals everything comes together really well. The differing tempos on different songs throughout the album also work well too!The Dames I think will appeal to DIY HC punk fans because of tracks like ..Just One Drink.., which are fast, raw but still have melody while tracks like ..Take A Number.., will appeal to the fans of more melodic punk like Fabulous Disaster. Also making guest appearances on this album are Paula Monarch and Katie Rose of Les Hell On Heels. While most female bands tend to go for the more commercial sound you can forget it with The Dames. These ladies rock hard and I do think this is a band that REALLY does deserve a listen. This album is self financed and top production to boot and more importantly it..s not a predictable album either. (Self Financed) 10/10

Artist: The Dames Album: Take A Number By Carl JenkinsYes it's three chicks, yes they can play, and yes they can play Punk. The new release by The Dames is a definite for any fan of the Punk Rock scene, not to say that everyone can't enjoy it. They have truly captured the spirit of what Punk should be on this release. They have a sound that could be compared to bands like Pennywise or Screeching Weasel with a little Blatz thrown in and all the same aggression. In true punk fashion most of the songs are under three minutes, except one.The songs on Take A Number cover topics such as drinking (Just One Drink), spiders (Scary Spiders), being pissed (Understated Aggression), and having to wait in line (Take A Number) to be with any of these girls. All three girls take turns doing lead vocals as well as backups. Some of my favorite songs on the new release by The Dames are Trophy Wives, the story of a girl that married for money and eventually gets kicked out, just so she can do it again. My favorite has to be Just One Drink. The song starts by saying I'm not going out, to the old 'ok' but only one - and ends after it has become a night of drinking and fun. The Dames were recorded and produced by Byron Filson of Villain Recording, showing why he is so sought after. Every instrument and every voice on this album come through perfectly.Christmas is just around the corner, so make sure to add The Dames' Take A Number to your wish list. - www.TheDames.com

The Dames CD Release Party Boys, booze, and a big sound BY ERIKA WURST
With The Dames' new album blaring, we can't help wanting to jump around wildly -- we're overcome with girl power, but not in the Spice Girls sense. Tagged "the demon spawn of The Donnas and Black Flag," Phoenix's all-female punk rock trio follows up last year's Sin and Tonic with just as much fast-paced, hard-rocking gusto on an album that's sure to get them even more attention on the local front. Although The Dames' lyrics are almost indecipherable, what we do know is that "Take a Number," the album's title track, tempts the boys to get in line if they want a chance with these three ladies. And track 10, a true anthem to "Boys + Booze," is The Dames' catchiest tune. "All I need tonight are my boys and booze!" the girls chant in unison. Cheers to that.
