About Me

Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band
When the Booty Band hits the stage, everybody dances! Having fun and feeling good is the philosophy as this Asheville, NC 7 piece band. They do whatever it takes to make you shake your big fat booty. Formed in 2002, they mix triumphant horns, laid-back grooves, and heavy backbeats to encompass many styles of music that can only be described as one Bounce Music. The swarms of swaying bodies at their shows testify to their thick ass thump and boundless energy. They're quickly becoming the hottest new funk band this side of and even in the Mississippi, adding colorful costumes and an interactive stage personality to make everyone in the room feel right at home.
.. width="425" height="350" ..Featuring several multi-instrumentalists, the Booty Band keeps things fresh by constantly changing instrumentation onstage. D-Roc DoJo Johnson cooks up a T-Bone, well done yet raw at the same time, and throws it in your face so the dogs will come and lick you. John-Paul Miller switches from soaring guitar licks to funkified bass alongside Grady Gilbert who holds down a raw, slap your mother in the face because he is so fresh guitar. AlAl Ingram plays the bass to move your waist and sometimes adds a soaring trombone to spice up the stew. Josh Phillips lays down percussion, guitar, and cries himself to sleep every night. Greg Hollowell tries very hard to play the saxophones. You will find everyone in the band singing or talking trash into the mic at some point during the show, and probably after the show as well.
The Booty Band appeals to a wide range of music fans, as their style cuts across musical genres and borders. They focus on original material, but don't be surprised to hear a choice cover by Galactic, Miles Davis, Beastie Boys and others. They're influenced by all styles of music, absorbing and distilling it for purities before bootlegging it for your enjoyment. The Booty Band is refreshing in this age of oh-so-serious music because they cut to the core of what great live music is all about: having fun and feeling good. Their energy is contagious and instantly transforms the average night out into an evening to remember. With great songs and even better attitudes, they create a rich and varied musical tapestry without ever seeming to run out of fresh ideas.
Throughout their five years of touring, the Booty Band has met, played with, and befriended many great bands such as Cadillac Jones, Fat Ellis, Soular System, Barefoot Manner, Entropy, Hope Massive, and countless other great encounters in and around various festivals. Whether youre hearing stories from Down on the Farm in Florida, the GrassRoots festival at Shakori Hills, or Jam Cruise 5, the Booty Band loves meeting and playing with everyone. Only one thing is for certain, March 3 is Booty Band Hat Day!
Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band is dropping jaws, dropping draws, and its all for the cause as they spread their festive and frantic stage show throughout the land. They can captivate any crowd they come across, as fans of all shapes, sizes and shades come together and bounce as one. Their silly banter and onstage antics keep the crowds laughing as the sounds send feet flying towards the dance floor. Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band adds the lava to the mudslide, the charge to the breaker, and the spice to your vice. They are the Booty Band, and they put the Live back into Live music.
