Andrew Braun

Andrew Braun grew up in the small Southern Manitoba town of Altona, singing and playing the piano since the age of 3. After picking up the guitar and beginning to write songs as a teenager, he fronted several successful ventures into the local indie rock scene, sharing the stage with members of the Arcade Fire, the Wooden Stars, the Weakerthans, and moneen along the way. Following high school Andrew studied jazz for two years in Iowa, and eventually moved to Vancouver and enrolled at Capilano College. Currently he is in the final semester of a Bachelor's Degree in composition while maintaining involvement in various projects that stretch his writing and musicianship across the musical spectrum. Experience and understanding of styles that range from pop to jazz to new music enables Andrew's creation of thick harmonic soundscapes with dense layers of instrumentation, while aiming to stay true to the integrity of a well sculpted song.
