About Me

Brent Ellis writes simple songs about complex things: love, family, home, heaven, hell and war. He was born country and he will die ... always and forever ... true pure country in every sense of the word. His songs find the perfect lyrics to tug at your heart strings, temp the edge of your soul and finds the melodies that set your heart on fire. You'll find yourself singing along even though you've never heard the words ... though you know the tune.
Brent writes from the heart, he writes from his life experience which few can match. As he puts it ... " If anybody has ever walked in my shoes, i'd like to wear 'em again so i can learn to walk backwards! " that's how confident he is that most people have come nowhere near livin' the life he's lived, they only talk about it!.
His songs are about growin' up and growin' old ... holdin' on and lettin' go .. going to war and findin' peace within', fallin' in love and fallin' out of love .. just to find love again ..he writes of good times and bad , gettin' drunk and gettin' sober , fightin' his demons and seein' the face of God and all the paths that lead from small towns to big cities and every road in between.
Brent is currently living in Nashville where he is working on many songwriting projects. Although all of his songs he wrote alone he is always looking to find co-writers that share his music style. Brent picked up his first guitar when he was 19. Honestly, all he wanted to do was sit on the tailgate of his truck and sing Hank Williams songs, but now he wants other folks to sit on the tailgate of a truck and sing Brent Ellis songs. Music is his passion. He hopes to touch peoples lives and make a difference in the world through his songs. Brent has lived life to it's fullest. He spent several years as the lead singer of various local bands but they fell short of his vision to find truth in music.
After September 11th it was clear to Brent that he needed to do what very few would make the sacrifice to do. He put his music career on hold and answered the call of duty and joined the US Army to defend our liberty and freedom. As he puts it in his southern drawl ... " I aint no better than anybody else and them folks in them towers didnt ask to die that day and i refuse to turn my head and act like it didn't happen. I did what any real man would do who loves his country and stands up for what he believes in ... I dont talk a big game i jump in swingin'! Aint no questions then!"
He spent 3 1/2 years serving our country. One of those years was spent in Iraq where he faced the enemy head on and recieved numerous combat awards for his bravery. During his time there he was inspired to write what is sure to be his break out hit , "The Soldier Song". Since he's returned home from the Army Brent has been keeping himself busy writing everyday and adding heartfelt songs to his catalog of future hits. He also attends writers nights and networks every chance he gets in and around the Nashville area to get his music out to the industry and the people.
Brent Ellis is a breath of fresh southern roots country air. He writes songs that are true to life and speak to your soul. He stands by his convictions. His strength and faith never waiver. He is always true to himself and that comes across in the songs he writes. Brent Ellis is pure american country. He's blue collar, he's a true believer in God ( no matter what the arrogance of non-believers may say ) , he loves his mama, he likes his beer cold and his whiskey strong. All he needs is his martin guitar and the inspiration in the crazy life he lives with a side of ramen noodles and the comfort of knowin his daughters are in good hands and he's got all he needs to keep the songs of life flowin' from his heart like a river of memories.
After hearing Brent's songs you'll be hooked like Willie on weed!
Brent's first single "Hankerin for Hank" is generating a great buzz...

~ It's down home, in-your-face I'm gonna find me a juke box and a cold beer Country music! what's great about Brents style too is he writes a song that the average Joe or Jane can relate to. You just have to have lived. Lived on the streets, worked on the farm or the late shift, or maybe even in the Iraqi desert Brent Ellis is an introspective reflection and reporter of life
