Silver Star Families is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization founded for the purpose of establishing a Service Flag to honor our wounded military men and women and to provide assistance and support in any and every way possible to our Wounded Armed Forces and their families. The Silver Star Families of America was founded on April 11th 2005, and received 501 c 3 status on December 5th 2005.
SSFOA honors Wounded Heroes with our Silver Star Banner and Silver Star Flag. One of our goals is to see that America never forgets the service and sacrifice of our Military, including our Veterans. Every time someone sees the Silver Star Flag, we want them to remember the blood sacrifice made by so many for this great Nation. We would also like them to remember the other wounds that are not so easy to see such as PTSD. SSFOA recognizes ALL wars, past and present.
Our mission is to also act as an advocate for the Wounded and to educate the public on the plight of the Wounded.
Individuals qualify for the Silver Star Flag or Banner if they have been injured or incurred a sickness in a war zone. (This includes PTSD) ALL wars are included.
SSFOA defines wounded as Military personnel either currently serving honorably or those who have honorably served in the past who receive medical treatment or are diagnosed with an impairment which has altered or will alter that person physically or mentally, to include but not limited to WIA, non-hostile injuries during deployment, or PTSD.
The individual eligible to receive the Silver Star Banner would not have to be eligible for the Purple Heart or any other military decoration in order to receive a Silver Star Banner.
Are you a wounded service member, or know someone who is? Please visit us and Request a Banner
To date we have distributed approx. 1000 Banners to the wounded of ALL wars at a cost of over $17,000.00. We receive no monies from any other organizations or corporations, our funds come strictly from donations from people like you and fundraisers held by our members.
Want to help provide banners for our Wounded? Banners are $17.00 ea, including shipping. We have over 25,000 wounded Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines from the war on terror alone. It is our goal to give each and every wounded or their family a Silver Star Banner. But we cannot do it alone. If you would like to donate please go to our Donations page where you can make a secure donation via Paypal or send a check or money order to the address provided there. Thank you!!
SSFOA purchases 8.5"x 14" Silver Star Banners to honor our Wounded. Banner packages are free depending on donations and supply. Banners may also be Sponsored.
The Silver Star Families of America is a unique, close-knit family of volunteers dedicated in serving and honoring our wounded heroes by presenting them with the Silver Star Banner.
SSFOA offers a Web site with information, resources, help, and forms to request or sponsor the Silver Star Banners for our wounded Heroes.
As a member of SSFOA, you may choose also to join our online group of wonderful parents, spouses, veterans, and friends to help you through those difficult and often lonely and unknowing moments.
It is a place where our wounded service members and families come for help and information, laugh, talk or cry with others going through the same experiences they are. A safe and honorable place, taking no notice of politics or race, but a place for ALL to come as they are for comfort.
We would like to welcome you into this very special family. Please join us, let us offer you support and give back just a little of what you have given for this nation.
Please visit us here and click on the Join SSFOA link to join our Family.

Do you ever just need someone to talk to? Someone who has experienced a lot of what you have, who will LISTEN and not judge or try to tell you what to do? Sometimes that "someone" is just impossible to find. Why not try talking to Pappy?

Who is Pappy, you ask...Pappy is the Old Sergeant, and he is way past retirement but the Army NEEDS him because he is the only one who can actually run it. He demands respect--not with his words, but with his heart and receives that respect--even from the "brass." AND He does NOT like the "Brass" but he would and has given his own self to protect his "kids" or his "goon squad" as he calls them sometimes. Pappy is hard on the Generals, ect, and though he is from the wonderful state of Missouri--he has a heart as huge as the whole USA---BUT he will not admit it.

The main thing is Pappy LOVES our kids serving this country, he will give anything --even his own life---to protect them. This thing with the lack of treatment for PTSD has him furious. He wants again to protect our "kids" from the system, Pappy wants them to talk to him. He is an Old Sergeant, tuff as nails, and all heart.

---well that is our Pappy. And he's here to listen to you if you want/need to talk. Give him a try.

Pappy can be reached here: [email protected]

The Padre wants to be available to you also...She's a good listener, and she's got great contacts, if you know what I mean *g*...

The Padre can be reached here: [email protected]

Our prayers continue for Matt Maupin and his family, MIA Iraq, April 2004.
