Pfc. Mark A. Barbret, 22, of Shelby Township, MI, was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy in Ramadi, Iraq, on October 14, 2004. Barbret was part of the 44th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division.
Pfc. Dennis J. Miller, 21, of LaSalle, MI, died when his unit came under enemy attack and a rocket-propelled grenade struck his M1A1 Abrams tank in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on November 10, 2004. Miller was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, Camp Casey, Korea.
Lance Cpl. Justin D. Reppuhn, 20, of Hemlock, MI died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on November 11, 2004. Reppuhn was part of the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force.
Lance Cpl. Justin M. Ellsworth, 20, of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, died from enemy combat in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on November 13, 2004. Ellsworth was part of the Combat Service Support Battalion 1, Combat Service Support Group 11, 1st Force Service Support Group, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
Lance Cpl. Michael W. Hanks, 22, from Gregory, Michigan, died as result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on November 17, 2004. Hanks was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force.
Cpl. Gentian Marku, 22, Warren, Michigan, died as a result of enemy action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on November 25, 2004. He was a member of the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
Cpl. In C. Kim, 23, Warren, michigan, was killed in a vehicle accident in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on December 6, 2004. In was part of the 9th Communications Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, CA.
Staff Sgt. Jason A. Lehto, 31, Mt. Clemens, MI, died in a non-hostile incident in the Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on December 28, 2004. Jason was part of the Marine Forces Reserves, Marine Wing Support Group 47, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Mt. Clemens, MI.

Marine Lance Cpl. Allan Klein, 34, of Clinton Township, died Jan. 26, 2005, in a helicopter crash. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force.
Navy Lt. Cmdr. Edward Jack, 51, a Navy chaplain who was raised in Ferndale, died Jan. 29, 2005, of a heart attack aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard, which was on its way to Iraq. He was assigned to Commander, Destroyer Squadron Seven.
1st Lt. Adam Malson, 23, Rochester Hills, MI, died from injuries sustained from an improvised explosive device in Baghdad, Iraq, on February 19, 2005. Malson was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain Division.
Capt. Sean Grimes, age 31, from Southfield, MI was killed by an improvised explosive device that detonated near his patrol in Ramadi, Iraq, on March 4, 2005. He was assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.
Staff Sgt. Ricky A. Kieffer, 36, from Ovid, MI, was killed by enemy forces that attacked his unit in Baghdad, Iraq, on March 15, 2005. He was a member of 1st Battalion, 182nd Field Artillery Regiment, Michigan Army National Guard.
Cpl. Michael B. Lindemuth, 27, from Petoskey, Michigan died as a result of wounds received from enemy mortar fire at Camp Hit in Al Anbar Province, Iraq, on April 13, 2005. Lindemuth was an Inspector/Instructor Staff, 3rd Battalion, 25th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve.
Spc. Randy L. Stevens, 21, from Swartz Creek, Michigan was killed while conducting combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq, on April 16, 2005. He was a member of 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division.
Capt.Ralph J. Harting III, 28, from Union Lake, Michigan was killed by a car bomb at a check point in Diyarah on April 29, 2005. He was a member of the 2nd Squadrion, 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.
Sgt. Brad A. Wentz, 21, from Gladwin, Michigan was killed on a main supply route when his convoy was attacked on May 20, 2005. He was a member of the 180th Transportation Company, Muskegon Michigan.
Spct. Joshua T Brazee, 25, from Sand Creek, Michigan died from non-combat related injuries in Qaim on May 23, 2005. He was a member of the 1st Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Sgt. Charles A. Drier, 28, of Tuscola, Michigan died May 24, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV. Sgt. Drier was part of the 1st Battalion, 76th Field Artillery, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.
Spc. Eric T. Burri, 21, of Wyoming, Michigan died June 7, 2005 when a primitive bomb exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 623rd Quartermaster Co., 1st Corps Support Command at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Lance Cpl. Andrew J. Kilpela, 22, of Fowlerville, Michigan died as a result of an explosion during combat operations in Saqlawiyah, Iraq, on June 10, 2005 Kilpela was part of the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
Army Spc. Adrian J. Butler , 28, of Detroit, Michigan was killed July 27, 2005 when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol in Ashraf, Iraq, according to the governor's office. Butler was assigned to the 411th Military Police Company, 720th Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, Fort Hood, Texas.
Spc. Brian K. Derks, 21, of White Cloud, Mich.died on August 13, 2005, in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on mounted patrol. Spc. Derks was part of the 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.
Staff Sgt. Brian Lee Morris, 38, of Centreville, died on August 21, 2005 killed in a truck accident in Iraq. He was assigned to the 360th Transportation Company based at Fort Carson, Colo.
Army Maj. Gregory Fester, 41, of Ada Township, died on August 30, 2005. Maj. Fester was killed by a roadside bomb while on foot patrol. He leaves behind a wife and three children.
Army Capt. Lowell T. Miller II, 35, of Monroe, Michigan was killed Aug. 31, 2005 when his military training team and Iraqi soldiers came under enemy fire in Iskandariyah, Iraq. Miller was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment in McComb, Miss.
Sgt. 1st Class Casey E. Howe, 32,of Deford, Michigan was killed September 26, 2005 when his patrol hit an improvised explosive device near Rustimayah. Howe was a member of the 3rd Battalion, 314th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 78th Division, based at Fort Drum, N.Y.
Cpl Nicholas O. Cherava, 21, of Ontonagon, Michigan was killed on October 6, 2005 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces near Al Karmah, Iraq. Cpl. Cherava was assigned to Combat Service Support Detachment 21, 2nd Force Service Support Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Cherry Point, N.C. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom he was attached to Regimental Combat Team 2, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force.
Army Pfc. Nicholas J. Greer, 21, of Monroe, Michigan died October 7, 2005 of a gunshot wound suffered a month earlier when insurgents attacked his patrol unit in Haqlaniyah, Iraq. PFC Greer was assigned to the Army's 3rd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division based at Fort Bragg, N.C.
Capt. Stephen W. Frank, 29, from Lansing, Michigan was killed by a car bomb at a check point in Diyarah on April 29, 2005. He was a member of the 2nd Squadrion, 11th Armored Calvary Regiment, Fort Irwin, Calif.
Staff Sgt. Vincent E. Summers, 38, of South Haven, Mich. died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on Oct. 15, 2005 he was killed by small arms fire. He was shot in the neck by enemy fire while conducting CQB, "close quarters battle". Summers was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.
Staff Sgt. Lewis J. Gentry, 48, of Detroit, Mich., died in Mosul, Iraq, on Oct. 26,2005 from a noncombat related cause. Gentry was assigned to the Army's 94th Engineer Battalion, Vilseck, Germany.
Sgt. Michael P. Hodshire, 25, of North Adams, Mich., died Oct. 30 2005 of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device during combat operations near Nasser Wa Salaam, Iraq on Oct. 29. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Maj. Gerald M. Bloomfield II, 38, of Ypsilanti, Mich., died Nov 2, 2005 when his AH-1W Super Cobra helicopter crashed while flying in support of security and stabilization operations near Ar Ramadi, Iraq. Maj. Bloomfield was with Marine Light-Attack Helicopter Squadron 369, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Sgt Alkaila Floyd, 23, of Grand Rapids, MI, died as a result of injuries sustained when a roadside bomb exploded near his RG-31 Mine Protected Vehicle on July 8, 2006. He was assigned to 54th Engineer Battalion, 130th Engineer Brigade.
Army Staff Sgt. Michael Dickinson, 26, a Battle Creek native, was killed by sniper fire on July 17, 2006, in Ramadi. He served with the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and was on his third tour of duty in Iraq.
Spc Dennis Samson Jr., 24, from Hesperia, MI, died July 24, 2006 from injuries sustained from small arms fire near Taqaddum. He was with 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.
1st Sgt. Aaron Jagger, 43, from Hillsdale, MI, was killed August 9, 2006 when a roadside bomb exploded near his Humvee during combat operations. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 37th Armor Regiment, 1st Armored Division.
Sgt Gabriel DeRoo, 25, from Paw Paw, MI, died August 20, 2006 from injuries sustained during small arms fire combat in Mosul. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division.
Chief Petty Officer Paul Darga, 34, of Alpena, MI, was killed August 22, 2006 by a roadside bomb explosion while his Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was responding to a previous attack. Darga was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit Two.
Army Staff Sgt. Eugene Alex, 32, a Bay City native, died Sept. 2, 2006, at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany from gunshot wounds sustained in Baghdad. He was a cavalry scout with the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team based at Ft. Wainwright in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Sgt. Ralph N. Porras, 36, of Merrill, Mich. died in Yusifiyah, Iraq, on Sept. 2, 2006 of injuries suffered from mortar fire during dismounted combat operations. Sgt. Sgt. Thomas Gilbert, 24, was killed in combat in Anbar province on Oct. 25, 2006. He was from Downers Grove, Ill., but was serving with the 1/24th, Michigan's Band of Brothers. He was the first of the 1/24th to be killed in action in Iraq.

Maj. Joseph T. McCloud, 39, of Grosse Pointe Park, Mich. died Dec. 3, 2006 when the CH-46 helicopter they were in crashed in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Pfc. Andrew H. Nelson, 19, of Saint Johns, Mich. died of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near their vehicle during combat operations Dec. 25, 2006 in Baghdad, Iraq. He was assigned to the 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
Marine LCpl William C. Koprince, 24, lived in Tennessee, but he was born in Southgate, MI and lived there for 10 years. He was killed December 27, 2006 by an IED in Al Anbar province, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Force.
Sgt.Christopher P.Messer, 28, of Petersburg, MI died Dec. 27, 2006 in Baghdad of wounds received from an improvised explosive device that detonated near him while on dismounted patrol. He was assigned to 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade Combat Team, Fort Drum, NY.
Cpl.Christopher E.Esckelson,22,ofVassar,Mich. died on December 28, 2006 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Esckelson was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve’s 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Lansing, Mich.
Marine Pfc. William Spencer, 20, was killed by small-arms fire while on patrol in Fallujah on Dec. 28, 2006. He was from Paris, Tenn., but was serving with the 1/24th, Michigan's Band of Brothers.

Army Pfc. Alan Blohm, 21, of Kawkawlin, died on Dec. 31, 2006, from injuries he received in an explosion near Baghdad. He served with the 25th Infantry Division.

Spc. Brandon L. Stout, 23, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Jan. 22, 2007 in Baghdad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an explosively formed projectile detonated near his vehicle. Stout was assigned to the 46th Military Police Company, Michigan Army National Guard, Kingsford, Mich.
Cpl. Mark D. Kidd, 26, of Milford, Mich., died Jan. 25, 2007 from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq. Kidd was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve's 1st Battalion, 24th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Mount Clemens, Mich.

Army Sgt. Douglas Stone, 49, a native of Milford, died of wounds suffered in a non-combat incident in Iraq on March 11, 2007. The military released no other details of his death. He was a member of the Utah Army Reserves in Salt Lake City.

Army Pfc. William N. Davis, 26, of Grand Rapids, was one of four soldiers killed on March 17, 2007, when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division based in Ft. Bliss, Texas.
Army Sgt. Curtis E. Glawson Jr., 24, a Detroit native, died March 20, 2007, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle in Baghdad. He served with the 1st Infantry Division based in Ft. Riley, Kansas.
Staff Sgt. Marcus Golczynski, 30, was killed in combat on March 27, 2007, near Baghdad. His family said he was just two weeks short of finishing his tour. He was from Lewisburg, Tenn., but was serving with the 1/24th, Michigan's Band of Brothers.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph C. Schwedler, 27, of Crystal Falls, was killed in combat on April 6, 2007, in Anbar province. He was assigned to Navy SEAL Team Four, based in Virginia Beach, Va.
Army Pfc. Levi K. Hoover, 23, of Midland, was killed by an improvised explosive device in Zaganiyah on April 7, 2007. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division, based at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
Army Sgt. Todd A. Singleton, 24, of Muskegon, was killed in combat on April 8, 2007, in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Army medic Garrett Knoll, 23, of Bad Axe, was killed April 23, 2007 when a truck bomb exploded next to his patrol base in Baghdad. He was one of nine U.S. soldiers killed in the attack. He served with the 82nd Airborne Division, based at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
Army Pfc. Brian A. Botello, 19, a Muskegon native, was killed April 29, 2007 when a bomb exploded near his unit in Baghdad. He was one of three soldiers killed in the attack. Botello was born in Muskegon and grew up in northwest Iowa, but still has relatives in the Muskegon area. He served with the 2nd Infantry Division, based in Ft. Carson, Colo.
Army Spc. Robert Dixon, 28, formerly of Gladwin, was killed by an improvised explosive device on May 6, 2007 in Baghdad. He served with 1st Infantry Division.
Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford Township is one of seven soldiers who are either missing or dead after a weekend ambush south of Baghdad, the Pentagon said Tuesday. Fouty posted this picture on his MySpace page.

Army Pfc. Casey P. Zylman, 22, of Coleman, Died May 25 in Mosul, Iraq, of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle May 24 in Tallafar, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

Army Pfc Shawn D. Gajdos, 25, Of Grand Rapids, Mi, Died June 6,2007 in Baghdad of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by insurgents using improvised explosive devices and small arms.
Sgt. Matthew Soper, 26, of Jackson, died in Iraq. His family said the military notified them of his death on June 6, 2007. The exact date, circumstances and location of his death were not immediately revealed. He was a member of the Michigan Army National Guard.
Army Spc. David Anthony Wilkey Jr., 22, a native of the Upper Peninsula, died June 18, 2007, a day after a roadside bomb exploded near his unit in Baghdad. Wilkey was born in Norway, Mich., and grew up in Wilson, moving to Elkhart, Ind., when he was a teenager. He served with the 1st Infantry Division in Ft. Riley, Kansas.

Heinlein Jr. 23, of Hemlock, Mich.; assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team), Fort Lewis, Wash.; died July 31, 2007 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle. Also killed were Spc. Zachariah J. Gonzalez and Pfc. Alfred H. Jairala.
Army Warrant Officer Christopher Johnson, 31, formerly of Grand Rapids, was killed Aug. 14, 2007 when his CH47 Chinook helicopter crashed near Anbar province. He was a Green Beret and pilot who served with the 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49 based at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.
