About Me

Hello, my name is Amanda and I am currently in school for Law Enforcement myself. I am a Reserve with the Kent County Sheriff Dept now until I am finished with school. I know a lot of police officers around here and some of them are very close friends. People don't understand and respect the police the way they should. They don't understand what police go through and see on a daily basis. I did not know this Officer personally, but this horrible happening has touched me deeply. Not just a cop was taken from the city of Grand Rapids, but a son, a father, a loving boyfriend, a brother, and a friend to all was taken.Because of my feelings about what has happened I decided to make this page in dedication to one who gave his life serving and protecting us all. Thank you again Bobby, we love you. .. If you have any questions or comments you can send me a message through myspace or email me. If you have other pictures that you feel would enhance this memorial you can also send them to me. My email address is: [email protected] ..This sight sent the tears rolling down my cheeks, it was the saddest thing I have ever experienced, but also the support from the people and the other police agencies was amazing...As I walked into St. Anthony's Church for the visitation tears hit my eyes before I even seen him. As I got to where he was I couldn't hold my emotions in. I went later at night, so no one else was around. There he was all alone in his flag drapped resting place with the Grand Rapids Officer at attention next to him. It was very quiet and very hard to take. I know he wasn't, but it was like he was there all by himself with no one. Only sound was the soft music playing in the back ground. It was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen. I found myself wondering why this had to happen....... There is a heart. .. There is a person we all think we know, We see him no matter where we go. He is there to protect us and keep us from harm, Sometimes from evil, and other times when there seems to be no alarm. He sees all that we choose to wear blinders to. When he pulls you over, he is protecting others, and yes, even you. Keep in mind when driving by that accident with a sheet, He is the one with tears in his heart, standing in the street. He is the one that walks into a family's home, where he finds a battered child, holds his anger and minds his tone. He sees the woman that has been beaten until she bled, Knowing that next week, another tear, this woman will shed. He is the one that goes to work on the streets full of guns and drugs, while praying he makes it home to his wife and children. This man is expected to see these things and stay polite, To tolerate abuse from both sides of the law day and night. Some say he is there to harass others with his power. He is actually there to protect us hour after hour. Yes, he did know that these things came with the job he chose. But he is human, and having a badge did not able him his heart to close. Many ask , "Then why did he choose this job to do?" He chose it hoping to help; he chose it for me; he chose it for you. .. My prayers are with all the Men and Women in Law Enforcement. I pray that they will stay safe and make it home each night....I'm Just Like You ..I have been where you fear to be; I have seen what you fear to see; I have done what you fear to do; All these things I have done for you.I am the one you lean upon, The one you cast your scorn upon, The one you bring your troubles to, All these things I have been for you.The one you ask to stand apart, The one you feel should have no heart, The one you call the "man in blue"; But I am a person, just like you.And through the years, I have come to see That I am not what you ask of me. So take this badge, take this gun; Will you take it? - Will anyone? And when you watch a person die And hear a battered baby cry, Then do you think that you can be All these things you ask of me?..Some photos I received from Deputy Thomas of the Montcalm Sheriff Department, thank you again for these pictures. They were taken at the Law Enforcement Memorial
