My Powers Are Beyond Your Understanding

About Me

Beowulf Kingsley, AKA The King Of Mars, AKA Dr. Toddzilla, AKA That Irritating guy Upstairs Who Won't Stop Practicing Bass, is actually me...real name Todd Perkins, from Ann Arbor MI. I'll answer to either Todd or Beowulf, depending on who's in the room, or occasionally Rev. Todd or Rev. Beowulf (I sort of accidentally became a Reverend, but that's a long other story)...or to "Hey you! Here's your thousand dollars!!" I really like that one. I live out in a funky old farmhouse on the edge of town with my lovely and talented fiance Cynthia, a jeweler and artist, and five cats, an exotic tree frog and a crazy ferret...as well as assorted outdoor fauna like deer, wild turkeys and coyotes. I write, teach, play, record and produce music for a living (well, its sometimes a living! I'm also quite crafty at avoiding my landlord & Big Vito the loan shark) and also because it's the best fun you can have in public without getting arrested. I've been lucky enough to have worked with great groups like the Michael Katon Band, Big Dave And The Ultrasonics, The Blue Front Persuaders and many more, I've had amazing years of touring through Europe, Canada and the U.S., and I'm still having a gas doing it, even though officially I'm older than the dinosaurs in the La Brea Tar Pits. Had the pleasure of opening for bands as diverse as Motorhead, Koko Taylor, Mitch Ryder, John Mayall, Eric Burdon, Blue Oyster Cult, Booker T and the MG's, Lucky Peterson and Golden Earring and lived to tell the tale!! I've got a couple of critically well-received CDs, and I have a new one that I'm just finishing mixing down. I do a lot of recording and producing for other musicians, at last count I had 15 CDs I've played on, engineered, produced, or some combination of the three, including recordings of The Ragbirds, Big Dave And The Ultrasonics, Jesse Richards, T.H.E. Modfather, The Motor City Sheiks and The Buzzrats. I love playing bass, guitar, accordion, ukulele etc., harmony singing, and talking music, recording, books, philosophy, the answers to and/or the futility of life over a cup of grog with interesting people anytime!

Sounds Like: Dr. John and Zappa wrasslin' Martin Newell and Syd Barrett in a tag team match after getting very very high? I always get in trouble with this one. All those elements and more are there colliding in the upper air, sending sparks into the clouds and making for some spectacular sunsets if I do say so myself. Really, hell, I don't know, give a listen and tell me what YOU think. I'd like that!
