SSgt Matthew Maupin. The Army has identified remains found in Iraq as belonging to Matt Maupin of Bartonville..'s 724th Transportation Company. Staff Sergeant Maupin went missing on April 9th, 2004. He was the only U.S. soldier unaccounted for in Iraq. Thousands of mourners packed into funeral of this young Ohio soldier whose remains were found in Iraq last month. It has been four years since Staff Sergeant Matt Maupin..'s convoy was attacked. Maupin, a 20-year-old private first class then, was listed as missing-captured until a tip from local Iraqis led to the discovery of his remains.Today family and friends were finally able to put him to rest. Thousands attended a daylong visitation at a civic center in Clermont County today where Maupin grew up. Mourners then proceeded to The Great American Ball Park for his memorial.
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday that is observed on the last Monday of May (observed in 2008 on May 26). It was formerly known as Decoration Day. This holiday commemorates U.S. men and women who have died in military service to their country. It began first to honor Union soldiers who died during the American Civil War. After World War I, it was expanded to include those who died in any war or military action. We ask that you please take a moment on Memorial Day to remember our fallen soldiers that have made the ultimate sacrifice, not only in today..'s conflicts, but all conflicts throughout our history. A Very Happy Birthday to the following members celebrating a Birthday in April this year: Audriana MikeH8Piece chrmdone4lf hugsforall Magimiss HeatherLeilani buckeyegrl1 Airborne_big_sis_P-cola JadedHeart marthac658 DesertRat garutti7 secretchat kscperry Christine sweetsheet9 SuperBratSue astrykerwife americancutie423 knakna lizzy200322 PcolaChick almikhailoff angelrae1573 westcott_laura NCSoldier Brian
Since January 2008 there have been major achievements. Military-Space has finally registered 1,000 members to the forum. There has been an introduction to Kids Zone to full operation. (http://kids.military-space.org/index.php), As well as the social networking is up and running http://social.military-space.org. Military-Space is looking for a Lead Grant Writer, if you would like more information please check that out. Military-Space has a Minister now. Ken, (Slug 1) is now the Minister here. Ken has mentioned that if you have a Prayer Request please add it to the Chapel section here at Military-Space.org. After posting a prayer request Ken will lead us in a prayer, at times reading a prayer can comfort a person. So please feel free to take advantage of requesting a prayer. We want to remind our members of our Military Space Kids Zone. It is never too early to start supporting our troops. If you know of any children who would like to become involved we urge you to show them our Kids Zone. Its a safe place to make new friends, and to learn about ways to support our soldiers and their families. We are always in need of kids willing to write letters or draw pictures for our deployed soldiers. Take a minute to go visit the Kids Zone at http://kids.military-space.org/index.php.
Support Team
Team Leader: Sldischinger
Sharon has became the Team Leader of the Support Team, congratulations Sharon.
Support The Military-Space.org Support Team is available to provide additional support where needed. For example, if someone hears of a soldier who doesn..'t get a lot of support from home, we step in and send some additional letters and cards, above and beyond those sent by the Letters of Hope Team. In addition, cards of encouragement are sent to units hit hard with injuries. another example would be requests for cards for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, a new baby, etc., can be sent to the Support Team. The Support Team needs more members who are able to send some encouragement or congratulations as it is needed. Your note or card may be the one to make someone..'s day special by letting them know that there is someone .."out there.." that cares about them!! If you would like some more information on how you can join and help provide additional support to our soldiers and their families please email [email protected]. There are some special projects that are coming up shortly, and we need some help with them. Your participation with them would be greatly appreciated.
Letters of Hope Update
Team Leader Booheart [email protected]
Letters of Hope Update Team Leader Booheart [email protected] We are in desperate need of writers, as we have recently gotten some large units submitted to our database for support. If you can write a soldier please sign up today. We have a new policy which will make it easier for members to join the Letters of Hope Team. As of today it is NOT mandatory to have a signed NDA to join a team UNLESS there will be sending to a family member... you must send the following to the team leader: first and last name address phone number where you can be reached date of birth ( you MUST be over 18) valid email address ( and this must be verified prior to approval) We have (59) active members on our team writing letters. Many have started to write a different soldier each week, as well as to the soldiers they sponsor. The Letters of Hope Team is a very rewarding team. We send letters and/or cards to soldiers and their families and let them know we are thinking of them and let them know we support them in their duties in defending our country. There are 8 new members this month to our team..Welcome and Thank You for joining !! Message from the Board of Directors
We have been working hard to add new and improved features to Military Space. But we can only be successful with the help and involvement of our members. Please stop by the forums, and if you haven..'t already, please stop by our welcome section and post a little something about yourself. While there, please read through the different postings and take a minute to say hello to your fellow members. Then look through the many topics we have open for discussion. Also, take a moment to go to our TAPS secton and say a prayer for our fallen heroes. .."Freedom is NOT free, but our loyalty IS!”….. Brian Eilers, Co- Founder If there is anything you would like to see added to Military-Space we want to hear from you. Please don..'t hesitate to email our Board of Directors at [email protected].

mission statement:

Welcome to Military-Space.org

The Military-Space.org Group founded in 2007, is a nonprofit organization ran nationwideby volunteers to ensure that deployed United States Service members in all branches ofthe military, and their families left behind, are not forgotten by providing needed mailsupport and to promote patriotism in our schools and communities. To provide a betterdeployment quality of life, lift morale, and assist military families, theMilitary-Space.org Group,, created projects that meet the needs of soldier/sailor andfamily requests, established special projects for holidays and other noteworthyoccasions, and assigns individual morale lifting mail support to service members of allbranches of the U.S. military and their families, serving their Nation around the world. We think it important to point out, that Military-Space.org Group,, does not make claimto provide the basic necessities of comfort to the soldiers and sailors deployed incombat. However, we do augment those necessities by providing extra items that arerequested by the soldiers. The US Military provides basics for each of the serving military with soap, shampoo, towels, sunblock and toothpaste, we just provide a little extra along with treats andgoodies to help make their stay more enjoyable.

Military-space.org was started bytwo (prior) enlisted service members who saw a need for a website that attempted tobring together lots of resources for taking care of our deployed service members andtheir families. We lived through several deployments and saw how some people didn't getvery much support from back home for what-ever reason. We are a Not-For-Profit Organization and are completely supported to date, by memberdonations and funding from private sources. We work very hard in bringing the resources for our Heros and give a unique place forthem to talk to people who understand what they are going through and have the time andresources to help them through their deployments (whether it be care packages or just afriendly voice). We also believe that family members of deployed service members need assistance duringthe stressful deployments of today. We want them to feel comfortable coming here Andchatting with other family members and also service members who are back from theirdeployments and can shed some light on what the loved ones are facing.Whom do we support:US Army US Navy US Airforce US Marines US Coast Guard Police Officers US Customs and Border Patrol Firefighters and EMS Workers And everyone else dedicated to protecting our great Nation!
