About Me
"Hi motherfuckers, wir sind Radio Ados aus Las Vegas, hoffentlich passiert nichts!". Those were the first words of introduction at the town festival of Krupunder at our second ever live show, playing before a fake wedding took place. Desaster struck when we entered the stage, playing to a buffled crowd consisting of the shithole-mayor and six old people as well as a handful of friends and passers by.
Founded in the autumn of 2001 (Pinneberg, it's crucial!)), at the beginning we made hectic songs with so much intended content (love, despair, broken football players in "roman geschlecht", surprizing statements) and fragile anger that people seemed alienated and we didnt know, how to make people hear them. (we still don't). Hear for example "Hossa Syndrom" on our website. Thought we had potential hits though, like "Liebe (inspirier mich)".
Eventually, we gave away some demo recordings (for instance "Message an den Wiedehopf") that were challenging but far from perfect...
Suddenly something happened: we had the idea of opening our own label with two friends (kim and jochen) and a further dream was born: all rock'n'roll speeds up records!
This stressed even more that our band is driven by an umcompromising diy-ethos to create our own language: musically, lyrically even visually...
Our first proper concert in hamburg's astra stube was a triumph in our own terms because it proved that we could transform our ideas into a live experience.
In 2004, we "released" a 7inch, "Late Night, what has become of you, my darling", which was at least considered an interesting effort, combining different styles like epic, even mellow pop, punk-funk (disastrous word) or rockabilly, giving to some narrow-minded people the impression that we had yet failed to find our style...
A second ep appeared in the following year, a collection of outrageous, yet understated pop songs with hardly accessible lyrics. "Sean" was, to a degree, critically acclaimed. Problem was: some band members thought it didnt sound totally like us.
Being in Hamburg, we took the oppurtunity to play in some legendary now closed-down venues of counterculture such as "Schallfolienhandel Unterm Durchschnitt" or "Marktstube".
A fascinating experience was touring through Eastern Germany with the likes of Kate Mosh and Trick 17, proving to be both excellent and exhausting.
Thus, with the the life-task of making a first record, mostly on our own, recording a huge part of it live, the aim is to show people and some animals irrevocably what we are about.Veröffentlichungen:2004 Late Night: What has become of you, my darling (Vinyl, All Rock'n'Roll Speeds Up)- -
