About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Welcome to the new myspace page for the 'Southside Sessions', Working hard to bring the best of Glasgow's thriving live music scene south of the river, the Southside Sessions are currently based in Linen 1906, 1110 Pollokshaws road, Shawlands.
The acoustic sessions i have been running at Linen 1906 Shawlands have started to attract some attention from press & the music industry itself, some top acts and rising stars have played so far & there are many more to come, The Fortunate Sons, The Ronelles, Billy Bates, Emma Jane, Andrea Marini, Mark Rafferty to name a few. . . . (see the G41 Newspaper & local listings for more details)
I've started this myspace page to help the southside music scene grow to its full potential, if i can.... I'm not here to make money or any other sinister thing..... i'm just doing this for the love of music and the chance to play some gigs without any hassle
The Southside Sessions will always be held in a 'Free entry' & hassle free style with quality & variety the main focus.
Keep in touch for more updates about the venues that i will be working with and the top acts that i already have booked for this coming summer season at Linen 1906.
Peace out
Crawford

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: As a solo act i quickly became broke & sick of doing the unsigned 'Pay to Play' Glasgow thing, in July 2005 i decided to try and score some gigs in my local bar 'Linen 1906'. I offered to play anytime, for free. . . . . .

'Linen 1906' in Shawlands, Glasgow is a unique & independently run bar (plus its perfectly built for acoustics!) and the owner/manager soon took me up on the offer. . . . . .

I started playing mid-week afternoons without any PA, I then played on the quiet evenings with borrowed equipment and eventually i was playing for up to 3 hours (if i wanted to) with a decent PA system & a meal with drinks on the bar every Wednesday night. . . . . .

As demand for the music grew, I suddenly found i had been part of the begining of a new music scene in Linen1906/Shawlands and felt that i wanted to not only share it with my friends/fellow musicians in the industry but also lighten the load for myself while i was studying at Stow College

In November 2005 I invited some unsigned Glasgow musicians; Billy Bates, Andrea Marini & Waytooblue (now The Fortunate Sons) that i had met through myspace to come along and help me out. . . . . .

"Share the free beer's & hassle free gigs" was the cry back then, as it is now & the rest, as they say, is history. . . . . .

It seems like i've stuck to my hippie roots, i have become an organic local promoter of acoustic music. I love what i do, i do it for the music & beer and i believe the vast majority of players i've had perform in Linen 1906 (and a few other venues) would agree with me. . . . . . . "It's all good"

Bluesbunny took the opportunity to sample the new acoustic music evening held at Linen 1906 in the civilised southside of Glasgow. Another brainchild of musician/promoter - and self confessed hip...
