About Me

My name is...my name is Mark Renman. Seems like I'm on this french thing. Don't know why; I've always been a bit of a francophile but I've spent very little time there. I have a long standing admiration for Charlotte Gainsbourg, as yet unrequited.................................................. ................................................ ............................................................ ..................................................... I have a love hate relationship with music. Sometimes i think it's a curse and other times a thing of such simple obvious beauty. Either way I seem compelled to make it and hopefully reflect the beautiful curse as authentically as possible. ............................................................ ....................................................... ............................................................ ....................................................... I’ve played music live from a young age, bass being my weapon of choice. With a band I achieved some backyard success but became quickly disillusioned with the recording industry and the fact that my band was shit. Making music on my own is better, although I always like to hear from vocalists who wish to express themselves and most of them do... ............................................................ ...................................................... ............................................................ ...................................................... I like european electro music and all manner of dance music but it was not always thus. Growing up with country music and pop I have developed a deep appreciation of song structure, melody and composition. The music I make then I consider songs rather than tracks. The quirky edge to my songs are intentional, the quality I hope incidental. ...................................................... ............................................................ ..................................................... ............................................................ .................................................... Think of a funky french lounge. Throw in some cheap red wine and a cheese fondue, grab a seat and nod your head in agreement... ............................................................ .................................................... ............................................................ ...................................................Myspace Contact Tables

Influences: I’m influenced by whatever is around at the time and moves me. That might be a hook, a vocal, a track or some specific production quality. I’m notoriously unfaithful to bands; I’m just a sucker for a good song. I’ve tried to think of acts I particularly like and thought if I could remember them without thinking too hard then they would make up my list, but I’m sure I’ve made some major music faux pas by missing out someone dripping in obscure greatness. So here they are, in no particular order:Clash, Buzzcocks, Gary Numan, Chic, Funkadelica, Sly Stone, Temptations, any Motown, Sugarhill Gang, XTC, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Tupac, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Cardigans, Chemical Brothers, Bob Dylan, Air, Lemon Jelly, Sugababes, Yello, Nina Simone, Beastie Boys, Benny Benassi, Damian rice, Carpenters, Elvis, Goldfrapp, Gorillaz, Happy Mondays, Ian Dury, Serge Gainsbourg, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Francoise Hardy, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, King Curtis, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, New Order, Primal Scream, Squeeze, Death in Vegas, Fedde Le Grand, Glen Campbell, that kind of thing....
