About Me

Let's get one thing straight- I don't smoke pot. I'm not going to bullshit you and say I've never tried it, but I generally believe in obeying the law, even when you don't agree with it.
The reason I've started this profile is because I firmly believe that the current prohibition against adult marijuana use in the United States needs to end. I came to this conclusion after doing a lot of research on marijuana after both my mother and step-father were diagnosed with cancer.
After hearing about how sick their treatments were making them, I started doing some research to see what might be available to help alleviate their suffering. This led me to do a lot of reading about medical marijuana. After seeing so much research confirming the medicinal effects of weed, I started to get disgusted that something less toxic than the occasional glass of scotch that I enjoy after dinner was illegal while my folks were being pumped full of extremely dangerous (but legal) narcotics to help them deal with their pain.
Through the course of my reading I also came across lots of good arguments for non-medical reform. I read stories about people lives, careers, and entire futures being ruined because of convictions for non-violent possession charges. While I don't advocate taking illegal substances of any kind, I cannot condone locking someone someone up for a "crime" which has never been shown to have any detrimental effect on society.
I'm sure at this point someone out there is thinking, "But marijuana users commit other crimes, too!" Personally I think that if someone is committing a violent crime or neglecting their kids or something like that, that's what they should be locked up for. In cases where the possession charge is needed to keep them in jail longer, then someone really needs to take a look at why the penalties for their more serious offenses are so lenient.
OK, enough ranting for right now.
The purpose of this profile is simply to help get the facts about marijuana and its use out to the public. I'm far from a "one-issue" type of guy, but I have other profiles up for my personal and business stuff. I don't plan on overwhelming anyone with bulletins, but I would appreciate it if the information I send out gets passed along. Also, if you have information that you think I might be interested in, send it in!

My Interests

Marijuana Policy Reform

I'd like to meet:

Jon Gettmen, Bill Maher, Woody Harrelson, and anyone who is on the front lines of the battle to rid the United States of its ridiculous prohibition against marijuana.
A quick note to anyone sending "Friends Requests":
I really only want to deal with people who are serious about getting the United States (or any other country) to legalize marijuana. I don't really mind if you're not reposting every bulletin I post, but if your more interested in reposting stupid surveys and retarded shit like that, I will drop you.I've set this profile so that all comments must be approved because while some folks may advocate breaking the law and smoking dope, I don't. It's not that I have anything against people who do, it's just that many of them do little more than perpetuate the myth that everyone who smokes weed is some kind of "Dirty Hippie" or "Gangsta Thug" and I think that kind of image does more harm than good to the cause.
Also: NO MINORS!!! I won't set any of my blogs to private, so any kids out there who are looking to educate themselves as to why marijuana policy needs to be changed can do so, but I will not accepting any "Friends Requests" from minors.
