The Rare Groove Orchestra

Groovy Shit For The Masses

About Me

Hammond funk band The Rare Groove Orchestra (RGO) was founded in The Hague (The Netherlands) in 2003.
Funk, soul and soul jazz are the main ingredients in this hot stew. Heavy doses of drums, deep bass grooves, gritty guitar hooks and grinding Hammond organ spice up the groove. Although the RGO doesn’t focus on the rare groove genre as such, the groove of the band is quite rare.
The band has toured extensively and has performed successfully at Eurojazz Mexico, Jazz in Duketown, Zug Jazz Festival (Switzerland), The Hague Jazz and various other venues and festivals world-wide.
In October 2007 the RGO released their first full scale album, simply called ‘The Rare Groove Orchestra’. The album received raving reviews world-wide.
