HOLY SMOKE! It's the Jezebel Sextet playing super-heavy Hammond funk with powerhouse horns and a killer vintage sound. Their music is rooted in classic 1970s street funk of The JBs and The Meters. But what sets them apart is their super-heavy funk originals, written and honed over 10 years of gigging.
Formed in 1997, the Jezebel Sextet have been whoopin it up ever at since at hundreds of gigs across London and the South, from underground clubnights in Brixton, Soho and Camden to bringing down the house at Raison D'Etre at the Jazz Cafe and Cargo.
Previous venues/bookings include: Jazz Cafe (Camden); Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show (BBC 6 Music broadcast); Cargo, 93 Feet East, Favela Chic (Shoreditch); LBC Radio; The Windmill, The Dogstar (Brixton); The Spice of Life (Soho); The Halo Bar (Battersea); The Crypt (Camberwell); Lost Society (Clapham); The V & A Museum foyer (for London School of Fashion); The Miller (London Bridge); Jerusalem (Fitzrovia); Sopranos (High Street Kensington); Old Billingsgate Fishmarket (for Pricewaterhouse Coopers); Sound (Leicester Square); Soho Jazz Festival; The London Marriott Hotel (Grovesnor Square).
