Fields, Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock . . . we've been watching a lot of Laurel and Hardy lately . . .

"A Canticle for Leibowitz" by Walter M. Miller Jr. (probably the most important and moving book you could possibly read right now), "Blindess" by Jose Saramago (2nd place in that same category), Simenon, Dostoevsky, Vollmann, Gorky, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Chandler, Fante, Steinbeck, Dahl, Mrabet, Malzberg, Gary Panter, Charles Burns . . . Zack turned me on to Richard Sala recently, and I think his work is wonderful ("Maniac Killer Strikes Again" is a great place to start) . . .
