My Interests

Visita mi página en ARTEVEN.ORG arte contemporaneo
Perhaps a big chunk of information related to food, politics, art, music and counterculture presented here might seem strange or unfamiliar, if the response is yes do yourself a favor and Google.com these terms, You can also use en.Wikipedia.org, AkPress.org, vegan.org, youtube.com and even amazon.com to learn more, remember you are just a click away to find your answers.

I'm interested in cross-culturalism, urban marketing, youth trend analysis, fashion for action sports and the music industry. It is important for me to support art shows, live music, the club-dance electronic scene, and inspire others, share knowledge and resources. I enjoy teaching, travelling and lecturing and riding bikes. I'm into visual arts, photography, graphic design, illustration. Sharpie in hand, I'm always sketching and when I have the right tools I like etching, carving and cutting tons of stencils and thinking about bikes. I do silkscreen printing for a living, I'm intrigued by vintage printing methods like the Chandler printer and moveable metal type, mimeographs and Gocco, I get excited about playing with Xerox machines and experimenting with old school tricks, finding messed up rubber stamps and making my own hand carved stamps. I have a collection of handmade books and a shitload of fanzines from all over the world. I'm into free will, living simply, free thinking/no stinking. I've been a skateboarder since 1978, but I'm getting too old for it so I'm mostly riding bikes throughout the city of San Diego. According to Ray Johnson and the New York Correspondence School, I'm a Networker, I'm interested in Fluxus, the Situationist movement, Dada, Surrealism, Propaganda, Visual Poetry, Constructivism, Pop Art, Graffiti, Street Art and obviously Anarchism, Nihilism, Bike-ism, liberal, leftist stuff and anything in between. My life is about intensity-workaholism-hyperactivity-multi tasking-D.I.Y. I'm fueled by loud harsh electro-punk beats and a vegan and gluten free diet...and my bikes are vegan too.

I've never been to Burning Man but I'm am definitely that kinda freak. Well I missed it last year...all I've got left is hope for this years Burning Man. For now, I can at least see the pictures from last summer.

I eat organic foods as much as possible. Here's a quick list of some of my favorites (more to come)
Vegetables: Brussel sprouts, any kind of sprouts, pickled artichoke hearts, palmitos, onions, leeks, scallions, peppers, chiles of course! huitlacoche, shitake, portobello and several other fancy mushrooms, asparagus, celery sticks, nopales (cactus leaves), broccoli, couli flower, radish, corn, squash blossoms, arugula, carrots, beets, cilantro, watercrest, spinach, napa cabbage etc
Fruits: I love grapes, kiwi, tamarind, olives, coconuts, plums, jicama, bananas, pomme granates, apple, tangerines, nectarines, avocados, comquats, watermelons, mangoes, berries, prickly pears, figs, quince and any kind of dry fruits.
Seeds, grains, cereals: All kinds of beans, edamame, fava and garbanzos are delicious, spelt, quinoa, millet, amaranth, tapioca, sunflower seeds, flax, pine nuts, cashews, almonds (But not Marc Almond really), I'm sucker for wild rice, rice-rice baby!
I appreciate world cuisine: Mexican, Italian, Thai, Chinesse, Middle Eastern, Greek...I don't really care much for Japanese or German food, but I'd willing to give it a second chance. I'm into holistic medicine, currently going gluten, peanuts and dairy free with a moderate intake of soy products. Look at the Vegan-vegetarian food I ate picts!

Foods I have issues with: sauerkraut, fresh sage, pickles, dijon mustard, horseradish, wasabi, rye, chocolate and mint together...I cannot stand the feel of that in my mouth...man, I've tried them several times but they're like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin or The Doors...I know they're good, but I just don't fucking like them.
Food cooked with beer or wine...please just don't do it. Not for me!

Drug, alcohol and smoke free since 1970!

I won't call myself ..Straight Edge, sXe, xXx.. because I like caffeine but I still listen to old school Straight Edge bands like Minor Threat, Uniform Choice, Youth of Today, Doggy Style and 7 Seconds and by listening to their lyrics I reinforce my clean-sober responsible living!, A "Teetotaler" as described by Shannaevolution effective" get involved in community activities. Share your knowledge, get your hands dirty, ride a bike, expose yourself to criticism, be a challenge, challenge others, convey thoughts, lead and kick ass! (Repeat!)

I'm taking the 4 agreements seriously, I'm really serious about not beign serious. I like The Secret and what it stands for, Ask-Belive + Receive..

Proud loud Mexican! mix of Spaniard, Chinesse, Yaqui and possibly Pai Pai indian. I'm not affiliated to any groups or tribes but I'm not ashamed to talk about my roots. Are you?!

I'd like to meet:

Companies to work with, clients, graphic design agencies, creative bureaus, art buyers, art dealers, art collectors, art fans, art curators, gallery owners, independent alternative business, publicists, marketing specialists, entrepenours, positive, outgoing, fun, smart, politically driven, creative, like minded individuals. If the word SNOB would have a last name would have to be Pepin. Martin Yang is funny, he'll deep fry your ass and bang you'll be all done. So stay away from it and get your hands into something productive.

Books:

ADHD keeps me from concentrating, and I have a hard time sitting down to read, but when I can, I try to read political stuff, humanitarian, health and enviromental articles and ethics. But if I sit down to read, my attention goes to art history, biographies, world history, subcultures and countercultures, contemporary art movements, propaganda, graffiti and street art, geometry, graphic design, typography, color theory, etc. I've tried a couple of audio books, and they work just fine. I enjoy coffee table books, art books, design books, I also like conceptual, handmade object books/book objects. I keep an eye out for interesting technical manuals, how-to manuals, biographies and art-pop culture, cheesy science fiction, B-movies, world history and other books to scan, reference design stuff or just might feed my very own morbid curiosity like limb and prosthetic catalogs anything that has medical disasters and other random calamities, serial killers, articles by R.U. Syrius, stuff about the Church of the Subgenious, Burning Man, pretty much all the books edited by RE/Search, and the books I've seen in the AK Press catalog. I love the Anarchist bookstore Bound Together in San Francisco. I also like to read the rants of Ray Loriga, Hey I did read Tony Hawk: Occupation Skateboarder, it was fun, read half of the book at Tower Records. I like magazines like Mondo 2000, Factsheet 5, Ray Gun, Alarma, Flipside, MRR, Industrial Nation, Sideline, Thrasher, Juxtapoz, Print and How Design.
Some books that had in a way influenced or changed my life: The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, Laberinto de la Soledad from Octavio Paz, The Teachings of Don Juan by Carlos Castañeda, Eric Fromm, commentaries and essays by Noam Chomsky and Bertold Bretch, Subway Art, Dr Seuss, The Giving Tree, Mafalda. Being Mexican, I've got to say Rius fucking rocks. I'm mostly into reading magazines or even fanzines...as you might know, fanzines (or zines) are domestic, limited run, homemade/Xeroxed magazines. I also like stuff by Pagan Kennedy.
Some of my favorite books are: You don't Have to Fuck People Over to Survive, Dada Manifestos, Subway Art, The Book of Zines, Scrawl, Dirt, Stencil Graffiti, Stencil Pirates, Subway Art, The Art of Getting Up and Over, The Album Art of Punk, Fucked up and Photocopied, Sensacional de Diseño, This is Tijuana, Sensoria From Censorium, Ways of Seeing, Como suicidarse sin maestro, La Panza es primer and La revolucioncita Mexicana.
Anyhow, I keep on reading as much as my patience allows me.
Is anybody really reading this? If you read this part please email me . I'd like to hear from you or leave a comment if you will.
