Well, Where do I begin? I suppose that I should start with when I began writing.. I have been writing since I was about 5 according to my mother. You know how parents tend to exaggerate. She says that I kept a journal which I have never seen BTW.
I am a Cali Girl born and bred and I do miss the Sun,Carne Asada Burritos&Tacos,being able drive to Mexico in 2 hours,The Fabulous Flee Markets,the People and even the Smog sometimes if you can believe that.. but I have since made Charlotte, NC my home. I have come to grow with the Queen City as it has developed into "The Next Big Place to Be," and above all it is becoming a Magnet for the Arts.. Which I am very excited about.
I really want to send a shout out to My Wonderful Friend who made my Page possible with all his hard work and his generous offer to record me. I wouldn't have gotten this far if he didn't have the faith in me that he has. He performed magic with his uncanny musical abilities that just don't miss a beat, as he added the absolute perfect background music especially for "Forget." The music he chose just hits right on spot and almost reads the poem for me. He prefers to remain anonymous at this time. I hope to soon open an Original Spot for others to spit poetry and welcome those who, like myself, want to share what is in their heart and What God Blessed them with through their words. These poems that you are hearing on my page are a product of my very first attempt at recording any of my work and I will tell you that it is really difficult to hear your own voice and like it. NO JOKE!
When I went into the studio I had no idea I was going to be doing these two pieces. I have 3 poems memorized and we didn't do any of those for the CD. You just have to be prepared to go with the flow.. Is my best advice. We only did one take of each poem due to time constraints so I am constantly critquing my voice and noticing where I should have had more feeling.The truth is that I haven't had much experience reading to a crowd of people either. I believe that I have only done so 3 times at a local Poetry Spot here in the Carolina's. I know that I need to practice in front of people which will be my next serious step to improve myself. Hopefully with continued support from the one person that I know "Has My Back" and from my good friends here on MYSPACE as time goes on you will be able to hear as I improve and get better. much Luv and Thanks to Everyone..
