Mike Fraser
Engineer – Mix EngineerMike’s career began at the infamous Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver, Canada. He spent many months sleeping and sweeping at the studio until he was taken under the wing of producer Bruce Fairbairn, and later producer Bob Rock. Fairbairn discovered Mike’s mixing skills and he went from assisting to mixing Aerosmith, a relationship that lasted for several albums. His mixing skills were heard by many, and were in high demand then, just as they are today. Mike is a legend in mix circles; he is often recognized and is a lovely low-key guy. Mike's credits include co-producing, engineering and mixing several AC/DC albums, mixing four albums for Metallica and studio cd/live/5.1 mixes for Rush, Satriani (Grammy Nominated 2006), Motley Crue and more. Recently, Mike has mixed projects that include Sony's illScarlett, the highly anticipated new Darkness CD and the new AC/DC DVD "Plug Me In". Mike tracked Hinder and UK darlings Biffy Clyro.Mike has been enjoying a great working relationship with Vancouver based producer Jeff Dawson. Jeff is thus far known for discovering, developing and producing the multi-platinum selling Daniel Powter. Some Dawson produced and Fraser mixed projects thus far include, several "buzz bands" - State of Shock (Fierce Panda Canada), 5AM, Superbeing and singer/songwriter Eileen Rothe. Mike also mixed what we're told is the upcoming single for R&B Queen Kelly Rowland in the US.Mike has also done some mixes for uber-talented singer/songwriter Tal Bachman (She's So High), Strapping Young Lad, Paradise Lost, the upcoming Hedley record (Famous Last Words), Neurosonic, Finger 11 and France's version of American Idol, Steeve Estatof. Mike is a closet country fanatic - guitar driven country - and has spent the last year venturing into country music and working occasionally in Nashville. His mixing projects thus far include Emerson Drive, and the upcoming Sony/BMG release for Terri Clark with heavy Nashville producer Garth Fundis. Other artists that Mike has worked on this year include Elvis Costello and Norah Jones. Mike looks forward to balancing his career with all styles - heavy rock to singer/songwriters. Mike mixes anywhere and prefers SSL consoles, is married with 4 children and resides in Vancouver, Canada. To see Mike’s complete discography or to hear some of his work, visit the links below.
