The Schematics

About Me

Nominally, the Schematics were punk rock stigmatized by their first band name the Bismols. Founded by lots of booze:Guitar-Robin Nash-Drums/vocals and Dylan Wappel-Guitar/vocals.The bands nervous, injected pop/rock/punk influences landed them their first gig opening for ‘Warrant’ Cherry Pie Tour. “It was really bizarre how people thought we were from England.” “I think we shocked the audience of 1200 people”. They didn’t believe we were from are home town, Edmonton Alberta. This set a fire craze into the Edmonton Entertainment scene for Punk Rock to be resurrected.Later Nash took a leave of absinth to pursue a career in working for a company called Ayotte Drums in Vancouver,British Columbia were he tailored his skills as a drumsmith. Built fine drums for Johnny Fae ‘The Tragically Hip’ Jeremy Taggart-‘Our Lady Peace’/ and most fabled of all a 14x5 wood hoop snare drum for Charlie Watt of the Rolling Stones. After a year and a half it was time to take some holidays were Nash flew back to Edmonton the day of to start a band called the ‘Shit of the Shit’. Later weld smelling the project with Dylan Jay. Nash says, “I never went back to work”.The Schematics recorded their first record called ‘Realtime’. They eventually headed out in support of their tour across Canada. Opened for bands like Treble Charger/Headstones etc. Eventually, Dylan Jay and Nash took some time of to regroup, rebuild and continue the song writing process.2005-2006 Robin Nash’s recent work includes working at the Armoury Studio (www.armourystudios.com) Joe Satriani (www.satriani.com) drum teching for Mike Fraser(www.redroad.ca) Jason Darr -Neurosonic(www.bodogmusic.com) Daughtersofmara.com and drum engineering the latest Social Code record.(www.socialcodemusic.com)Dylan Jay the prolific songwriter has continued writing great songs in bases with Nash. Without the collaboration of Six hours of Sanity for last year for every Friday night after a week filled with overtime and filth from the day job. They’ve both pushed believing in each others will and ability, sacrificing brain cells and time from family. The next best thing for the Schematics is, “to put out the best mother fucker of an album for their fans”.April 2nd 2008 Marks the untimely passing of Robin Nash.
