About Me

Xico Pupo- Popular Brazilian SingerXico Pupo was born in Adamantina, São Paulo, Brazil, on October 8th. He has a high tenor voice, and was professionally influenced by American Gospel and Black Music and by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Take Six, Aretha Franklin, Prince, and Bobby McFerrin.Xico is widely acclaimed for his dedication to Contemporary Popular Brazilian Music, known abroad as Brazilian Jazz. His reparatory is eclectic and carefully selected among the best of today’s Brazilian composers. Instrumentalists in his band include two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer and a percussionist.He studied vocal technique with professors Ulla Wolf, Vitória Eunecave and Nadia Daltro.For five years he sang with the renowned Carioca vocal quartet Be Happy which launched their CD, in Japan in 1991, participated numerous times in the “song books” of Almir Chediak, numerous presentations at show houses in Rio de Janeiro (including Jazzmania, Teatro Rival, Mistura Fina, etc.) and the Jazz Festival of Vitória.ARTISTIC ENDEAVORS2002 - He presented his new solo work at the Novo Canto Project at the SESC Theater in Rio de Janeiro. - He placed third at the Tatuí Music Conservatory Festival with the song “Arcanjo” composed by Simone Guimarães and Marcilio Figueiro.2003 - He participated in the MPB Project Pret-à-Porter at the Café Pequeno Theater in Rio de Janeiro. - Music of Tatuí in São Paulo and placed second with the song “Enternecido” (written by Marcilio Fegueiro and Chandra Mani)VOICE-OVERSDisney (Studio Double Sound – Rio de Janeiro) - Lion King II, the film - Soloist and sang in an African dialect as a member of the chorus. - Lion King II, the CD - Soloist of the song “Com o Nosso Amor”, a duet with Kakau Gomes, and a member of the chorus on all songs on the CD. - The Lady and the Tramp II - Soloist and a member of the chorus Return of Jafar – Soloist on the songs by the character Yago. Big Tiger, the Film - Soloist on two songs: “O Tigrão Vem Ai” and “O Rock do Tigrão” and a member of the chorus on the CD. Xico Pupo, tenor com timbre agudo, teve como influencia cantores Gospell e da Black Music, tais como: Stevie Wonder, Take Six, Aretha Franklin, Prince, Bob McFerrin. Estudou técnica vocal com as professoras Ulla Wolf, Vitória Eunecave e Nádia Daltro. Durante cinco anos integrou o renomado quarteto vocal carioca “Be Happy”, tendo lançado cd no Japão em 1991, com inúmeras participações nos songbooks de Almir Chediak, inúmeras temporadas de shows em casas de espetáculos do Rio de Janeiro (Jazzmania, Teatro Rival, Mistura Fina, etc).
