His talent was recognised and groomed by his father, The Late Mr L. Krishnasamy, a great indian musician, who was the leader of the SBC Indian Orchestra back then. He knew his son had something that not many nine year olds had at that time. The gift of music. He began selling his son's act to many Indian cultural shows together with his band, Febra. He knew that his only son, was His Only heir in the Indian music field. Sadly, just four years after his son's first performance, Mr L. Krishnasamy, who was also fondly known as Saivi, passed away suddenly leaving his legacy behind, together with his four daughters and Pravin. Pravin was only turning 13 that year. Not realising how important a person his dad was in the industry, Pravin went on with his life like any other normal school boy. Picking up instruments along the way without the help of any formal training but through simple coaching by friends and family. He was able to play simple guitars, keyboards, drums and indian instruments like harmonium and tabla. To top it all of, he had an amazing voice. Pravin Saivi never took his talent seriously though many people told him to pursue it at a professional level. Finally, at the age of 17, Pravin realised that it was his duty to keep his father's musical spirit alive and took the effort to take part in a couple of indian singing competitions. He came in 1st and 3rd in two of them. One of the judges approached him and asked if he was interested in singing on television. Pravin was elated. He was given his first oppurtunity to make his dad proud. And that too on national television. The judge, Mr Abdul Nassir, was none other than his father's band's ex keyboardist who had left the band to pursue his own successful solo music career. He was extremely impressed by Pravin's singing ability. He was personally delighted to know that his band leader's son was back in the game. Pravin then went on to perform at a few clubs as a singer/entertainer.Pravin Saivi made his singing debut in a tamil variety programme. (Theem Thaka Theem) He finished second in the national Indian talentime Thenkural 2002. Afterwhich, he showcased his versatility by singing many more songs on other variety shows. Later in that year, Pravin was offered the part of Ashwin Lingam, a polytechnic student in the channel five series 'Light Years'. Making him one of the few Indian personalities to make it into channel 5. Breaking into the English scene, he was dubbed by the public as the 'Chandler' of Light Years with his hilarious quirks and smirks. He had established himself as a singer and actor. All within a year and a half.Pravin served his national service with the SAF Music and Drama Company performing in over 200 stage shows and productions. He performed at the Esplanade, the Istana and also at Rockhampton, Australia. At the ripe age of 19, Pravin Saivi had gained a tremendous amount of experience. Performing was his nature. He was then nominated in the 'Best Male Singer Award' category in the 2004, 2005 & 2007 Predana Awards. On October 17th 2004, Pravin became the youngest ever local Indian artiste to put up his own solo concert at the NTUC Business centre auditorium. In that show, he showcased his talents that many didn't know he possessed. By the end of the show, the audience were awestruck. In 2005, Pravin Saivi chose to follow his father’s footsteps by taking a step out of the limelight from Singer/Entertainer, to Keyboardist in the hit talentime ‘Vasantham Star 2005’. This surprised the public pleasantly as he showcased yet another hidden talent. He continued playing keyboards for the 2006 New Year Variety special on Vasantham Central and for the hit show ‘Planet Galatta’. He made another debut by composing a song, ‘Muzhu Nilave’ for the ‘Planet Galatta’ audio cd . His unique style of music charmed many.In 2006, Pravin Saivi joined Asia renowned world music band Tribal Tide and performed for several local arts festivals with them.
