High Energy Ukulele Powered Jam Band from Maui, HI

About Me

Kanekoa is high energy, 5 piece (2 ukuleles, Bass, Drums and Percussion) jam band from Maui Hawaii.

Our sound has been labeled in the Hawaiian/Psychedelic/Rock/Folk/Jam/Stoner/Punk categories, since there really is no other way to describe it. Most of the songs that we play were written by all of us, as we each throw our own unique influences into the mix. We are also known for playing obscure cover songs by artists such as the Grateful Dead, The Doors and Santana. We are known by most people because of our extremely unique sounds which stem from 2 electrified ukuleles that are backed by a solid rhythm section, and our high energy stage shows. Keep an eye on our schedule and make sure to come see us if we're in your area. You wont be disappointed!

Sounds Like: Led Zep + Ben Harper + Phish + the Doors + Bela Fleck + Jack Johnson + Pink Floyd + Hawaiian + Marley + Grateful Dead + Police + Stevie Wonder + Deep Purple + Dave Matthews + Santana

Imagine a sound that comes from Kaulana bringing in a little Marvin Gaye meets Ben Harper vocal stylings while Vince adds a dash of Jerry Garcia and Stevie Ray Vaughan fret-work as Shawn simultaniously throws in some James Jamerson and Jaco Pastorious bass lines just as Travis kicks in some Neil Pert and John Bonham rolls and paradiddles in time with Brett's Pancho Sanchez-style fills...all in the context of catchy, melodic-yet-rockin tunes in a style reminicent of the Police, the Beatles, Bob Marley and many others.
