A lot of people ask us what having a manager can do for them and whether or not it would be in their best interest to even have one. We can honestly say that having a GOOD manager will only benefit you as an artist or a band in the long run, and although it might be a trial to find a company that you feel is a best fit, it is still a good idea to have some kind of representation.
First and foremost, having a manager opens a lot of doors for you and is generally more professional as far as industry standards. When meeting with a venue manager, club owner, or record company executive, it's more appropriate if they speak with your manager FIRST on your behalf, rather then directly speaking to you. Some high quality venues might even require that they ONLY speak with a manager. Also, having a manager allows you access to the industry connections (studios, production companies, venues, etc.) that they hold, which is always a plus for you as an artist ... especially for those just starting out.
Another reason you should consider having a manager is the peace of mind in knowing that everything is taken care of. No more worrying that you'll get screwed out of money by a venue, or even if you'll be paid your full worth by them in the first place. We're not afraid to speak up if we feel you've been wronged. You'll always have someone in your corner to handle things so that you can focus on what's important ... playing music.
That, as far as we are concerned, is the most important asset to having a manager, especially for artists or bands who do all their booking themselves. If you leave it to us to handle your booking and all other aspects of your business, then you'll have more time to create, practice, and write music.
Of course, the next question we get is concerning our fees, and we can honestly tell you that payment for us is pretty straight forward. It costs nothing to get started. We don't get paid until you do, which means there's nothing to lose. Our 15% fee come directly from your performances, which means if we don't get you shows, we don't get paid. It's as simple as that. Also, we start at the level you're currently at and build on it so that the only direction you can go is up.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us and ask. If you are a musician (solo or band) and are interested in doing business with BMS, please click on one of the links in the column to your left to fill out the appropriate musician form.
Burke's Management Services has now opened a graphics department. Both clients and people not affiliated with BMS can order graphics such as logos, designs, or anything else you can think of. Click the banner above to be taken to BMS-GFX.
Burke's Management Services announces the grand opening of Burke's Booking, a subsidiary of BMS. Burke's Booking helps bands solely with booking gigs, and does not include all of the amenities that being a part of our Managing provides free of charge to our signed bands. So if you’d just like a booking agent and not a manager, please click on the above banner to be taken to BMS Booking for more information.
