Jammu and Kashmir: Women ordered to don burka
Jammu: In a move that will once again create a fear psychosis among womenfolk in Rajouri district, a Hizb-ul-Mujahideen area commander
on Saturday threatened them to follow the Islamic dress code of wearing a burka and a veil while moving in public places and warned that they would be killed if they failed to comply, officials said.
Giving them one week to comply, Gazali, said the
throats of those defying the order would be slit. Women not wearing burkas were un-Islamic, he said in the poster.

ISTANBUL, July 26 (Compass Direct News) – Iraq’s Kurdish regional high court has reduced jail time for a teenager who fatally stabbed her uncle as he beat her for converting to Christianity and “shaming†the family by working in public.
I just remembered these:
I've heard the members of the Taliban threw acid filled balloons at a little girl's face who wouldn't wear a burka.
On the Discovery Channel they showed a billboard advertisement with a woman not wearing a burka so a bunch of Muslim crazies ripped the part of her face off since women's faces aren't allowed to be seen in public.

Did you know premarital sex in Iran is illegal and this is completely based on Islam? Your probably wondering why I would care what Iranians do, its because when religious bullshit can make people stop acting like normal humans and start doing strange things then thats pretty disturbing.

Symposium: To Rape an Unveiled Woman by By Jamie Glazov
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Algerian_civil_war
The Algerian Civil War was an armed conflict between the Algerian government and various Islamist rebel groups which began in 1991. It is estimated to have cost between 150,000 and 200,000 lives.
More than 70 journalists were assassinated, either by security forces or by Islamists[4] The conflict effectively ended with a government victory, following the surrender of the Islamic Salvation Army and the 2002 defeat of the Armed Islamic Group. The conflict began in December 1991, when the government cancelled elections after the first round results had shown that the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) party would win, citing fears that the FIS would end democracy. After the FIS was banned and thousands of its members arrested, Islamist guerrillas rapidly emerged and began an armed campaign against the government and its supporters.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentalha_massacre
At the village of Bentalha, about 15 km south of Algiers, on the night of September 22-23, 1997, more than 200 villagers (according to Amnesty International) were killed by armed guerrillas. The number of deaths reported ranged from 85 (initial official estimate) to 400 (The Economist) On September 21, at 11:30 pm, explosions rocked the Hai el-Djilali neighborhood on the southwest side of Bentalha, and attackers began pouring in from the orange groves to the neighborhood's southeast.
They began methodically going from house to house and slaughtering every man, woman, and child they found within.
Screams and alarms filled the air as a helicopter circled overhead. The attackers were armed with machine guns, hunting rifles, and machetes; some, according to Nesroullah Yous (see below), were dressed in dark combats, some in the Islamists' trademark kachabia, with balaclavas and beards. They recognized some of the locals, calling them by name.
They proceeded with savage cruelty, dashing babies into walls, cutting off limbs, cutting throats, raping and then killing women.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalit_massacre
The Thalit massacre took place in Thalit village (Médéa, near Ksar el Boukhari; see map), some 70 km from Algiers, on April 3-4 1997
52 out of the 53 inhabitants were killed, having their throats slit by armed guerrillas who burned their houses afterwards.
Smaller-scale massacres took place the same day at Amroussa, Sidi Naamane, Moretti, and Beni Slimane, killing another 30-odd people. The attack was blamed on Islamist guerrillas such as the Armed Islamic Group(GIA).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rais_massacre
The Rais massacre, occurring on August 29, 1997, was one of Algeria's bloodiest massacres of the 1990s. It took place at the village of Rais, near Larbaa and south of Algiers. The initial official death toll was 98 people killed and 120 wounded; CNN said that hospital workers and witnesses gave a toll of at least 200, and up to 400. The figure given by the Algerian government to the UN Commission on Human Rights (E/CN.4/2000/3/Add.1) was 238. The BBC later quoted the figure of 800 killed[1]
The hooded attackers arrived about 1 am in trucks and cars, armed with shotguns, knives, axes, and bombs. They continued killing the village's men, women, children, and even animals until dawn (about 6 am), cutting throats and taking the time to burn corpses; young women, however, were abducted instead of being killed. In some cases, they left severed heads on doorsteps. They mutilated and stole from the dead, and committed atrocities against pregnant women. They burned and bombed some houses.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armed_Islamic_Group
The Armed Islamic Group (GIA) is a Khawarij terrorist organization that wants to overthrow the Algerian government and replace it with an Islamic state.
Between 1992 and 1998 the GIA conducted a violent campaign of civilian massacres, sometimes wiping out entire villages in its area of operation (see List of Algerian massacres of the 1990s; notably the Bentalha massacre and Rais massacre, among others.) Since announcing its campaign against foreigners living in Algeria in 1993, the GIA has killed more than 100 expatriate men and women in the country. The group uses assassinations and bombings, including car bombs, and it is known to favor kidnapping victims and slitting their throats.

Taslima Nasrin is a Bengali Bangladeshi physician, author, feminist human rights activist and secular humanist. She was awarded the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought in 1994 and a Humanist Award (from the International Humanist and Ethical Union) in 1996.
Since 1993, Nasrin has faced numerous death threats from Islamic fundamentalists. Recently, in March 2007, an Indian Muslim group offered a bounty of 500,000 rupees for her beheading.[1] In 1993 , sparked by a series of newspaper columns in which she was critical of the treatment of women under Islam, Islamic fundamentalists issued a fatwa and offering a bounty for her death. In 1994, organised groups identified with Islamic fundamentalists demanded her execution by hanging after she was quoted in The Statesman stating that "…the Koran should be revised thoroughly.".
The government of the day, whilst not taking action against those who had issued threats, filed a court case against Nasrin charging her with blasphemy, and an arrest warrant was issued. Although she anticipated that she may have faced a jail term of up to two years, Nasrin felt it was very likely that she would have been murdered in jail; consequently, she went into hiding. After two months she was granted bail, and left the country to exile. On August 9, 2007, Nasrin was attacked at the Hyderabad Press Club in the state of Andhra Pradesh.[4] She was there for the launch of her book Shodh in the Telugu language. Three MLAs of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party were among those who physically attacked her with bouquets, flower pots and chairs for criticizing Islam. Akbaruddin Owaisi, also an MLA and MIM Floor leader in the Assembly, justified the attacks by saying, "We are not bothered about our MLA status. We are Muslims first. And its our responsibility to test those who have said anything against Islam in which ever way possible."[6] Nasrin, who backed into a corner, said the attack was barbaric but pledged she would not be cowed. Taslima Nasrin was born in Mymensingh. Though born into a Muslim family, Nasrin has said she had become an atheist.

Evgeniy Rodionov Soldier Martyr
The 19 year old New Russian Orthodox Saint of Chechnya
Chechen field commander Rusland Haihoroev (also spelled Khaikhoroyev in some sources) slit the throat of the soldier and later beheaded him on May 23, 1996 (his 19th birthday) near the settlement of Bamut. His body, along with four other Russian prisoners were placed in a bomb crater outside the village of Alexeevskaya and covered up with lime and dirt. Haihoroev stated later in an interview that he only killed Rodionov after the soldier denied conversion to Islam and refused to give up his orthodox cross.

Pakistan blasphemy death sentence
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salman_Rushdie
On 14 February 1989, a fatwa requiring Rushdie's execution was proclaimed on Radio Tehran by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the spiritual leader of Iran at the time, calling the book "blasphemous against Islam." A bounty was offered for the death of Rushdie, who was thus forced to live under police protection for years to come. On 7 March 1989, the United Kingdom and Iran broke diplomatic relations over the Rushdie controversy.
Hezbollah's failed assassination attempt
A 1989 explosion in Britain is believed to have been a Hezbollah "attempt to assassinate British novelist Salman Rushdie [which] failed when a bomb exploded prematurely, killing a terrorist in London."[19] There is a shrine in Tehran's Behesht-e Zahra cemetery for Mustafa Mahmoud Mazeh that says he was "Martyred in London, August 3, 1989. The first martyr to die on a mission to kill Salman Rushdie." Mazeh died priming a book bomb loaded with RDX explosives that took out two floors of a hotel in Paddington, Central London. A previously unknown Lebanese group, the Organisation of the Mujahidin of Islam, said he died preparing an attack "on the apostate Rushdie". Mezeh's mother was invited to relocate to Iran, and the Islamic World Movement of Martyrs' Commemoration built his shrine in the cemetery that holds thousands of Iranian soldiers slain in the Iran-Iraq War.[12]
During the 2006 Jyllands-Posten Muhammad cartoons controversy, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah declared that "If there had been a Muslim to carry out Imam Khomeini's fatwa against the renegade Salman Rushdie, this rabble who insult our Prophet Mohammed in Denmark, Norway and France would not have dared to do so. I am sure there are millions of Muslims who are ready to give their lives to defend our prophet's honour and we have to be ready to do anything for that."[20]

NEW:
These next two Ken Miller videos show what religion does and can do to a society and this is partially why all religion needs to go and why people believing in made up non-sense isn't alright because these deluded people that make up the public of America and the rest of the world mostly determine where this country is headed and since this is America that means where the world is headed. Have you noticed that nearly every Republican presidental canidate is a religious fanatic like Bush? We can't have these types running this country anymore because like I said there would of been no Second Gulf War if Bush only believed our soldiers and others had one life. Since the nearly 700,000 people that have died because of this war are supposedly in a better place that fact that they died/were murdered wasn't very bad in the first place. This is why we are in a fight for most people to believe in science not magic and reality not made up crazy non-sense. I would like to see religion not exist anymore. People shouldn't believe in things that aren't true especially when they are against the people with the truth/spending most of their lives trying to advance the world in nearly every way and they have been trying to stop our progress to a greater or lesser degree since religion was created [I'm talking scientists of course].
Bush not funding stem cell research, what happened to Galileo and many others. There are many Christian loonies that really believe that the Earth is 6,000 years old because that's what Genesis says and would like to see everything about evolution, the Big Bang, and anything related that proves them wrong banned with no regard that the theory of evolution helps us fight HIV and diease in general and helps us understand so many important things. They would like to turn America into the Middle East type basket case or a Puritan theocracy. I doubt any of them would admit this to you but many of them want it this way they can win their fight against us since they can't do it the regular way with evidence and real arguements. We don't need religion to do good or be moral as if that wasn't obvious and like I already explained this Christianity vs. Islam vs. Judaism is what's trying to bring the world into World War 3 if you haven't read my picture with "where religion is taking the world" in the title.

Ken Miller on Intelligent Design
I can only watch the first 10 mins because I get disconnected from having 56K but he talks about what happened in Arkansas and about a guy holding a sign that said Miller and others who take the side of Darwin are going to burn in Hell for all eternity. Even though I agree with Miller on many things I think he is a strange person because of all people he should know as much as I do that religion is bullshit and at the same time he is trying to believe in religion and evolution at the same time which is completely impossible and completely wrong.
"The implication is that atheists and humanists are somehow undesirable members of society, people you would not want to invite into your house. According to lawyer Phillip Johnson, nonbelievers actually think humans came from monkeys, which is the source of many of the 'evils' of modern society, including homosexuality, abortion, pornography, divorce and genocide–as if the world had none of these before Darwin came along. However common may be the view that religion is the source of moral behavior, what do the data say? According to statistics from the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Christians make up almost 80 percent of the prison population. Atheists make up about .2 percent...Published studies do indicate that a child's risk of sexual abuse by a family member increases as the family's religious denomination becomes more conservative, that is, when the teachings of scriptures and other doctrines are taken more literally. Similarly, the probability of wife abuse increases with the rigidity of a church's teachings pertaining to roles and hierarchy."

HIV: the ultimate evolver
2. Why are some people resistant to HIV?
HIV is by no means the first plague that human populations have weathered. Many pathogens have deeply affected our evolutionary history. In fact, the human genome is littered with the remnants of our past battles with pathogens — and one of these remnants, a mutation to a gene called CCR5, may lead researchers to a new treatment for HIV.

Evolution of Infectious Disease by Paul W. Ewald
"Paul Ewald, an evolutionary biologist at Amherst College, argues that HIV may have infected people benignly for decades, even centuries, before it started causing AIDS....The idea may sound radical, but it's not just flashy speculation. It reflects a growing awareness that parasites, like everything else in nature, evolve by natural selection."--Newsweek
Findings from the field of evolutionary biology are yielding dramatic insights for health scientists, especially those involved in the fight against infectious diseases. This book is the first in-depth presentation of these insights. In detailing why the pathogens that cause malaria, smallpox, tuberculosis, and AIDS have their special kinds of deadliness, the book shows how efforts to control virtually all diseases would benefit from a more thorough application of evolutionary principles.

Applying our knowledge of evolution
Evolutionary theory predicted that bacterial resistance would happen. Given time, heredity, and variation, any living organisms (including bacteria) will evolve when a selective pressure (like an antibiotic) is introduced. But evolutionary theory also gives doctors and patients some specific strategies for delaying even more widespread evolution of antibiotic resistance. These strategies include: ...
Ultimately, recognizing bacteria as evolving entities and understanding their evolution should help us to control that evolution, allowing us to prolong the useful lifespan of antibiotics.

Myth:
That it's just a theory...and a rootin' tootin' useful one at that.
Evolution theory, like all our modern theories, was discovered by generation-after-generation of naturalists who left their comfortable homes to explore nature.
Everything we understand about how reality works in modern civilization is theoretical.
To the extent that a theory is useful, it will be used.
To the extent that a theory is not useful it will not be used.
Given the power and the utility of theories that form the foundation of modern, technological civilization, a statement like the one above reflects an unfortunate failure to comprehend this.
Planetary Biology theory. This picture depicts a network of related ideas that, together, make up a larger idea.
A scientific theory is a model that explains how reality is organized.
A scientific theory provides a framework for understanding natural reality by showing how real phenomena are organized and interrelated -- like the organization of a jig-saw puzzle.
A scientific theory is an intellectual interpretation of the patterns of natural reality.
Scientific theories are tools that help us comprehend natural reality.
To the extent that a scientific theory is useful, it will be used. To the extent that a scientific theory is not useful, it won't be used.
Some very useful theories
Newton's theory of celestial mechanics
Einstein's theories of relativity
Quantum mechanics theory
Military theory
Economics theory
Medical theory
Structural engineering theory
Aerodynamics theory
Restaurant management theory
Evolution theory
Our modern civilization is utterly dependent upon scientific theories. Ignoring them purely for ideological reasons jeopardizes the practical foundations upon which our civilization stands.
Myth:
That Intelligent Design Theory is Science
If it were, science could be much more interesting...
Intelligent Design (ID) Theory presents an interesting, if entirely deductive, explanation on the role of an intelligent designer (God?) and the unfolding of life on Earth.
The "intelligent design" advocates vary greatly. But the core beliefs which they all appear to share are the following:
(a) ID advocates believe that the action of an intelligent (presumably conscious) being was involved in the evolution of living organisms.
(b) ID advocates believe that there already exists empirical evidence of this action, sufficient to justify a scientific inference that such action occurred.
Despite its spiritual appeal, it is not a useful scientific theory for many reasons, several important ones include:
ID theory is based on a foundation of "unexplained" -- otherwise known as the "God-of-the-gaps" -- advocates claim that what scientists do not completely understand today can best be explained by invoking the intelligent designer.
In other words, evolutionary scientists should give up, stop trying, and use the ID solution when confronted with puzzling mysteries about life on Earth.
ID theory is a top down approach, starting with an answer, then searching for evidence to support its claim -- while systematically ignoring all evidence to the contrary. Dogmatic adherence by advocates precludes open-minded consideration of competing possibilities.
ID theory itself provides no expository or explanatory tools that normally accompany useful scientific theories. It doesn't help scientists solve the mysteries that lie before them.
ID advocates promote claims that are largely arguments from ignorance of evolution theory, biology and biochemistry -- to name a few.
ID advocates invoke the action of "new laws" to support their claims, but without providing the research with which to evaluate such new laws.

Unlike in the Second Sudanese Civil War, which was fought between the primarily Muslim north and Christian and Animist south, almost all of the combatants and victims in Darfur are Muslim.[2]
In the late fourteenth or early fifteenth century, the Keira dynasty of the Fur people of the Marrah Mountains established a sultanate with Islam as the state religion.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Garang
By the end of July, Garang had brought over 3000 rebel soldiers under his control through the newly-created Sudan People's Liberation Army/Movement (SPLA/M), which was opposed to military rule and Islamic dominance of the country, and encouraged other army garrisons to mutiny against the Islamic law imposed on the country by the government.[1] This action marked the commonly agreed upon beginning of the Second Sudanese Civil War, which resulted in one and half million deaths over twenty years of conflict. Although Garang was Christian and most of southern Sudan is non-Muslim (mostly animist), he did not initially focus on the religious aspects of the war.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudan_People%27s_Liberation_Arm
y
The SPLA/M is largely Southern Sudan-based, non-Arabic and secular, in contrast to the predominantly Muslim and Arab north. As a rebel group it was formed in 1983 by rebellious south sudanese soldiers of the Sudanese Army based in Bor, Pochalla and Ayod (Bor Mutiny). These joined remnants of the Anyanya rebels of the First Sudanese Civil War based in Ethiopia. It was founded by Colonel Dr John Garang, Captain Salva Kiir Mayardit,Major William Nyuon Bany and Major Kerubino Kuanyin Bol. It fought against the governments of Gaafar Nimeiry, Sadiq al-Mahdi and Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir in what is now called the Second Sudanese Civil War. SPLA/M's declared aim was to establish a democratic Sudan with it as the leading party in control of the southern areas. The war has been largely described in religious and ethnic terms, and also as a struggle for control of the water and oil resources located in the southern and the western Sudan.
Human rights abuses
There have been widespread reports from humanitarian organizations, and from the mainstream media of various instances serious human rights abuses, including extra judicial killings, beatings, arbitrary detention, slavery, raping and pillaging.[1]
US support
In 1996 the US sent nearly $20 million worth of military equipment through Ethiopia, Eritrea and Uganda to help the Sudanese opposition to overthrow Bashir (president of Sudan). US officials denied that the aid was destined for the SPLA, but there were reports elsewhere that elite US forces were working with the Sudanese rebel army.[2][3]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omar_al-Bashir
Field Marshal Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir is a Sudanese military leader, politician, and current president of Sudan.
Al-Bashir subsequently allied himself with Hassan al-Turabi, leader of the National Islamic Front, and began a program to make northern Sudan an Islamic state. Al-Bashir implemented Sharia and a new Criminal Act over northern Sudan in 1991, enforced by Muslim judges and a newly created Public Order Police.
According to the government of Sudan, al-Bashir had offered the United States the arrest and extradition of Bin Laden and detailed intelligence data earlier that year and that the Clinton administration was not receptive to the idea, though United States officials deny that any such offer was ever made. In 1998, the U.S. bombed al-Shifa pharmaceutical factory, a factory in Sudan that was allegedly producing chemical weapons for bin Laden, but many doubt if the factory was making such devices at the time of the attack, since the USA has failed to provide any evidence or to allow an independent committee to verify these claims. Sudan was subsequently one of the seven nations put on the U.S. State Department’s list of countries that sponsor international terrorism, but al-Bashir has fiercely denied that Sudan aids or has any connections with terrorist groups.
Civil war
Main article: Second Sudanese Civil War
Sudan is perhaps best known internationally for the civil war that raged between the northern and southern halves of the country for over 19 years. The war resulted in millions of southerners being displaced, starved, and deprived of education and health care. Because of these actions, various international sanctions were placed on Sudan. International pressure intensified in 2001, however, and leaders from the United Nations called for al-Bashir to make efforts to end the conflict and allow humanitarian and international workers to deliver relief to the southern regions of Sudan. Much progress was made throughout 2003, and in early 2004 al-Bashir agreed to grant autonomy to the south for six years, split the country’s oil revenues with the southern provinces, and allow the southerners to vote in a referendum of independence at the end of the six year period. Al-Bashir has also made statements discouraging southerners to support independence.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hassan_al-Turabi
Dr. Hassan 'Abd Allah al-Turabi is a religious and political leader in Sudan, who may have been instrumental in institutionalizing sharia in the northern part of the country.
Turabi was leader of the National Islamic Front, a powerful political faction in Sudan. The Front attempts to impose sharia upon the country, even though radical Islamists form a small minority of the population.
After graduating, he returned to Sudan and became a member of the Islamic Charter Front, an offshoot of the Sudanese branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. Within a five year period, the Islamic Charter Front became a large political group that identified Al-Turabi as its Secretary general in 1964.
Sharia Law
The Nimeiry administration declared the imposition of a harsh brand of Sharia Law in 1983. Popular opposition against political actions such as the dissolution of the Sudanese parliament and legally-inflicted punishments such as amputations and hangings, resulted in a coup against Nimeiry in 1985.
His frequent close relationships with Sudanese Governments has resulted in great dislike of Turabi from the Sudanese nation which resulted in the famous association against him in the 1986 votes where all political parties decided to withdraw their nominees and keep only one nominee against Turabi which led to the loss of Turabi being part of the only Democratic government in Sudan during the last four decades. This has led later on to the careful planning of Turabi and his crew to take over authority by force in June 1989 forming what was so called the National Salvation Revolution
1989 coup
On June 30 1989, a coup d'etat by General Omar Hassan al-Bashir and supported by Turabi and his followers led to severe repression, including purges and executions in the upper ranks of the army, the banning of associations, political parties, and independent newspapers and the imprionment of leading political figures and journalists. [3]
In 1994 a report issued by Human Rights Watch/Africa, conducted by Gaspar Biro, a Hungarian law professor and the United Nations' special envoy to Sudan in 1993. Finds the Sudanese government practicing "widespread and systematic torture" of political detainees.
Once uncommon in the Sudan, torture was now widespread, especially in the south. Non-Muslim women were raped, their children taken from them; paper bags filled with chili powder were placed over men's heads, and some were tied to anthills; testicles were crushed and burned by cigarettes and electrical current, according to a 1994 report by Human Rights Watch/Africa. [4]
Links to militant groups
Turabi protected Osama bin Laden when the al Qaeda leader based his operations in Sudan from around 1990-1996, at Turabi's invitation. Turabi founded the annual Popular Arab and Islamic Conference (also sometimes called the Congress) around 1991. Meeting here were several Islamic groups from around the world, including representatives from the Palestine Liberation Organization, Hamas, Egyptian Jihad, Algerian Islamic Jihad, and Hezbollah.
"Turabi sought to persuade Shiites and Sunnis to put aside their divisions and join against the common enemy. In late 1991 or 1992, discussions in Sudan between al Qaeda and Iranian operatives led to an informal agreement to cooperate in providing support-even if only training-for actions carried out primarily against Israel and the United States. Not long afterward, senior al Qaeda operatives and trainers traveled to Iran to receive training in explosives." -- 9/11 Commission Report, Chapter 2
In August 1993 Sudan was placed on the U.S.'s list of "state sponsors of terrorism," following the first W.T.C. bombing in February. State Department notes that "five of 15 suspects arrested" following the bombing were Sudanese. [6]
Two years later an assassination attempt was made on Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak by Egyptian Islamic Jihad organization, many of whose members were living in exile in Sudan. [7] The Egyptian government and others blame attempt on Sudanese government, [8] and international condemnation at the United Nations and economic sanctions against Sudan followed.[9]
In 1996 Al-Turabi chose to run in the first general election of the new regime. After winning a seat, Al-Turabi was selected as Speaker of Parliament, second only to the president, Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir, of Sudan. Al-Turabi's first instance of holding a political position with some consistency continued until March of 2004, at which point Al-Bashir threw Al-Turabi in prison. Al-Turabi was released from prison in June of 2005.

Dr. Khalil Ibrahim is the leader of the Zaghawa-dominated Darfurian rebel group the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM).
He was an enthusiastic supporter of the National Islamic Front (NIF) seizure power under the direction of Islamist Hassan al-Turabi.
By Ibrahim's own account, he was disaffected with the Islamist movement by 1993 after seeing the economic neglect of the NIF, as well as its support to armed militias. At this time, he became part of a covert cell of Islamists who were seeking to change the NiF from inside.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_and_Equality_Movement
The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) is a rebel group involved in the Darfur conflict of Sudan. It is led by Khalil Ibrahim. Along with other rebel groups such as the Sudan Liberation Army, they are fighting against the government-supported Janjaweed militia.
JEM espouses an Islamist ideology, and the government links the group to Hassan al-Turabi, although leaders of the group and Turabi himself deny the claim.[1]

"The world holds two classes of men - intelligent men without religion, and religious men without intelligence."

As people become more intelligent they care less for preaches and more for teachers" - Robert G. Ingersoll
A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus. Can you believe this shit? Hell has frozen over. Suck it, Jesus. This award is my God now.

Here's a really good modified Sam Harris quote: "religious people think that ignorance is more powerful then science or death."
"Tell a devout Christian his wife is cheating on him, or that frozen yogurt can make a man invisible, and he is likely to require as much evidence as anybody else, and to be persuaded only to the extent that you give it. Tell him that the book he keeps by his bed was written by an invisible deity who will punish him with fire for eternity if he fails to accept its every incredible claim, and he seems to require no evidence whatsoever."
- Sam Harris
Religion is based upon blind faith supported by no evidence. Science is based upon confidence that results from evidence -- and that confidence can be modified and/or reversed by further observations and experimentation. Science approaches truth, closer and closer, by hard dedicated work. Religion already has it all decided, and it's "in the book. It's dogma, unchangeable, and unaffected by reality and whatever facts we come upon in the real world.
- James Randi
The evidence of evolution pours in, not only from geology, paleontology, biogeography, and anatomy (Darwin's chief sources), but from molecular biology and every other branch of the life sciences. To put it bluntly but fairly, anyone today who doubts that the variety of life on this planet was produced by a process of evolution is simply ignorant -- inexcusably ignorant, in a world where three out of four people have learned to read and write. Doubts about the power of Darwin's idea of natural selection to explain this evolutionary process are still intellectually respectable, however, although the burden of proof for such skepticism has become immense.
- Daniel C. Dennett
Actually those who believe in God aren't a dam bit "intellectually respectable" but I agree with the first part.

“Imagine the people who believe such things and who are not ashamed to ignore, totally, all the patient findings of thinking minds through all the centuries since the Bible was written. And it is these ignorant people, the most uneducated, the most unimaginative, the most unthinking among us, who would make themselves the guides and leaders of us all; who would force their feeble and childish beliefs on us; who would invade our schools and libraries and homes. I personally resent it bitterly.â€
The saddest aspect of life right now is that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom...

I was watching some tapes of Jay Leno's show and during Headlines they showed a newspaper article with a quote from president Bush that actually said "God is constantly searching our hearts and minds. He's kind of like Santa Claus." On another show during the monologue he said "teachers at schools in India sprinkle dried cow urine on the students to purify them and drive away evil."
9/7/07, I just got done watching Jimmy Kimmel Live and they were showing a bunch of stuff that supposedly has the image of Jesus on it including the left over grease of a fast food hamburger, a MRI scan and a bunch of other junk then they had some black guy say "this is proof that God exists." You should of seen the look on my face.

This will just get lost if I put it anywhere else:
You know why I know there is no God? Because everyday thousands of children starve to death and in the Bible it says God watches every second of everyday of all of our lives and that means God sits there and watches thousands go through torture until they die and does nothing to stop it when he is the only on that can, There is no way he could let this happen if he did and this is more proof he doesn't exist.
