World Faith Soul Society

I am here for Friends

About Me

We are connected by a common cause, to see soul music rise up and touch the discouraged, and downhearted men and women out there. Our intention is to help bring joy and peace of mind to an otherwise angry and alienated world. We operate under the banner of "Northern Soul" but we have evolved enough to know that soul music is bigger than any one particular label or specific beat per minute. Lets get together and celebrate our love for soul music!
I'm Jake Maguire, the current moderator for the World Faith Soul Society. I have been into northern soul since 1985 and have worked the nightclubs in southern California since November of 1986 when I became the lighting technician for a weekly soul event in Long Beach CA held at the Grand Central Station Club. I moved to San Diego in 1989 to attend college and worked in the nightclubs part time. After receiving a Bachelors degree in Philosophy with a minor in film, I worked as a video artist for countless concerts, raves, and dance events all around the United States. I witnessed the beginnings of the electronic dance movement, and have seen some truly amazing shows, but for me, nothing has ever been able to compare with dancing to Northern Soul.
I would really like to thank Dave Rimmer, he has really helped a lot of people like me increase their appreciation and knowledge of soul. Check out his book.
DAVE RIMMER is the author of "The Rare Soul Bible...An A-Z Of Northern Soul" see picture above (BeeCool Publishing). He is also the Editor of Soulful Kinda Music, a quarterly magazine based around the UK's Northern Soul scene, whose first issue appeared in 1989 (get issue #69 available now). Contents vary with each issue but include Venue Reports, CD Reviews, Artist Biographies and Discographies, Label Listings and Record Reviews, and many 'comment' articles by different authors.
