Biography in Brief
Derby electro band D-Void established in 1982, by founder members Rob Brookfield, Gez Banks and Andy Piper. After recruiting a further four musicians they launched themselves as a seven piece outfit the same year. After parting company with Andy and changing to Catena Twist in 1983, John Kallagher, drummer stepped up to become a major contributor to the bands song writing and musical direction. Tipped for success by local radio D.J. Terry Christian, who went on to be the host of channel 4..s The Word. They gigged the length of the country taking their fan base with them. The groups electronic sound was complimented by the saxophone and vocals of Carol Otter and after by the new vocalist Maggie Skeds and guitarist Mick Smith. After their demise in 1985 Rob and Gez went on to form the National Peoples Gang (NPG) with founder member of Emotional Blue a.k.a. ..XL5.., Charlie Kenny. A tour of Holland followed and the release of a compilation album ..Concepts of success.. which featured other local bands. It was following the production of the album that Gez and Rob called it a day for their band.
