About Me

Medium Medium emerged in 1978 out of punk/rhythm & blues band The Press in Nottingham, England. The band's second single, Hungry, So Angry, released in February 1981 on Cherry Red Records, has become a minor classic of post-punk/funk. One of the first records to introduce slap-bass--a technique borrowed from black funk music--to a generally white audience, Hungry, So Angry reached the no. 48 spot in Billboard's Disco chart.

Hungry, So Angry has appeared on at least 15 compilations over the years, including three in 2005.
The band released only one studio album, 1981's The Glitterhouse, and split up in late 1983. Live in Holland, featuring shows recorded in May 1981 and June 1982, was released in 1988.
Inspired by a Cherry Red retrospective CD release in 2001 and the subsequent dance-punk revival, which included a number of bands inspired by Medium Medium, the band reformed in late 2004 for several live shows on the East and West Coasts of the United States, including a showcase at the CMJ Music Marathon in New York.
Medium Medium continues to perform occasionally. The band's first new release for over 25 years is planned for 2008.
