About Me

Dj Furthur coined his name from the intrepid bus that toured America in the 60's with such revolutionary individuals as Ken Kesey and Neal Cassidy. The bus was painted in electric colors and read "furthur" over the top of the windshield. This bus became a vessel/time machine with wheels steered toward the destination of the present moment and beyond. The city of Denver already stands a mile high but apparently it wasn't high enough in the eyes and hands of Dj Furthur. Having seen what vibes and energy a dj could bring to the table in a single moment, what spiritual, emotional and life altering experiences could be conveyed with turntables, and how much an individual as well as the masses could be so strongly impacted and united by something intangible...Dj Furthur knew that behind the decks was where he belonged. He bought the ticket and is now taking us for the ride. "I knew early on in life that I wanted to be involved with music in some shape or form I just wasn't sure where or how...The stage power and pressence was always attractive but for the most part, I wanted to be the one up there expressing my message, having people relate and sing along to what I felt. Now, music just seems to be something....necessary. Doesn't feel so much like a distant, unreachable vission, it just kind of...is. I could have gone anywhere really as far as band or genre of music is concerned, but I think I wanted to do it myself. I wanted to express what I had to express without having to compromise at all. Having to deal with a multitude of egos has never been very appealing to me. So, I picked up some records and messed around on whatever turntables I could find. ...The dj has always been looked at as some kind of Godly entity in my opinion but I gotta go back to the ego thing again, what it really boils down to is fiddling around with records, screw the dj, just play the next fuckin' track!" He's played a multitude of of clubs, parties, and outdoor festivals. Dj Furthur is the official dj for the up and coming Denver hip hop group Marksmen(www.myspace.com/marksmen1) and has a multitude of demos currently in circulation. Ten years later he's still "fiddling around with records" and playing "the next fuckin' track. When you see him on the spot, pay attention and stay in the moment, Dj Furthur will take you further!
