About Me

R Kenga (Roman Kenga), a musician from Russia. Was born and grew up in a country town in the South of Russia.
At the age of three, he saw a piano for the first time in his life. When he was five and became tall enough to be able to sit down at the piano (before that he had played standing upright), he entered a musical school.
At the age of 17, he became a student of the Vocal Course in the Rostov Variety and Jazz College and was invited as a soloist to the most popular jazz bands.
In 2002 Roman moves to Moscow and gets a number of interesting job offers, one of which is to co-operate with the British House label Hooch Choons as a member of the group OKO, where he performs as a vocalist, composer, and musical producer. As a result of this co-operation, the compilation “Le Future Le Funk” comes out. Among the tracks of such performers as Mirwais and Royksopp, the group OKO represented their track “Because”.
After the release, Roman gets some offers to take part in several projects as a session vocalist. The Scandinavian band Royksopp whose second album was about to come out, was one of these projects.
After that Roman begins to work on his solo album. He himself makes up everything, from music and lyrics to arrangement and vocals. It turned out to be a bright album of varied sound – electronic mixes, hard at times and sometimes soft and melodic. This characteristic makes the music interesting for both music admirers and professional audience. You will listen to the album in one go. It is simple and logical, like a soundtrack from an unknown blockbuster.
R: “The album turned out to be provocative. I was trying to fill in the gaps in the modern pop-music, make something I have neither heard on the radio nor seen on the musical channels. I composed an album you wouldn’t want to eject from the radio-recorder in your car.”
