Dead Cut Tree

A SYMPHONY OF THE DAMNED

About Me

Dead Cut Tree is still one of the most influential alt-metal bands to come out of the Southeast. Touring with such acts as Agnostic Front, and Corrosion of Conformity, as well as opening for Type O Negative, Prong, Bad Religion, Blind Melon, SuperChunk, Jackyl, Follow for Now, Drivin' n Cryin', and GWAR to name a few, Dead Cut Tree showed a musical diversity that few bands possessed during the music revolution of the 1990's. Soaring, seering guitars, and howling vocals with dark melody, along with a grinding rhythm section, created the atmospheric wall of sound that only Dead Cut Tree could conjure. In case anyone is wondering, the name "Dead Cut Tree" is derived from black magic spells, where an incantation is made beneath a "dead tree" on hallowed ground, and a piece of the tree is "cut" off, and added for it's alchemic power, then tossed into to the cauldron, hence the dark, and brooding sound of the quintet. Dead Cut Tree recently made available five songs from a previously unreleased recording, that reflect their heavy yet harmonious sonic barage, for your free download. The response has been overwhelming so far and your continued support is greatly appreciated. Dead Cut Tree plays hard rock that is undeniably different than anyone these days, not only through their crafty musicianship, but also by maintaining an artistry and ethos that is not easily stereotyped in a world of shoe-gazing knock knee-ers with smeared mascara. By writing and playing great songs, and defying trends, DCT has surprised a lot of people. Recently, Fem-Pop Guru Tamra Spivey, of Lucid Nation, reviewed Dead Cut Tree's music......"I like it! Especially "Revenge". It almost gets into Electric Witch territory.....Damon's got a really good, bluesy gravel, and a good metal roar. Great job recording them, and I rarely say that..... the guitar tracks and drums, the vocals, and mix sounds great, and I actually enjoyed the songs, the guitar player hits some nice Iommi chordage without merely imitating..." Sounds Like: Dead Cut Tree sounds like Doom Rock before there was such a thing. They sound like Stoner Rock before they had a name for it. They sound like a machine...a heavy, yet well tuned machine. Feel the machine hum.

In the beginning....

Dead Cut Tree, much like every band, had meager beginnings.  The band was founded in 1990, by Damon Plumides and Brian Mckenzie, with the intention of creating a Cure-esque, Bauhaus-ish...
