About Me

"A diverse collection of blues, rock, jazz and latin musicians playing a variety of musical styles"----------*----------Hogmanay celebrations in 2004 saw a one-off musical collaboration between a few of veteran practitioners. Casual interest in this initiative by those assembled led to overtures towards more significant performances in the summer of 2005 in aid of charities. Success, interest and encouragement following these concerts led to the formation of ‘Short Notice and Friends’:----------*----------Peter Barkle (Bass and lead vocal): Peter spent the 1960’s and 1970’s touring with numerous bands; including playing sessions for some of the most famous groups and solo artists of that era. He has subsequently played with a number of amateur and semi-professional collaborations in the Midlands. Peter can be described as a rock and blues/rock bassist with a strong and percussive style. His vocals are passionate but tuneful and his stage character engaging. His bass playing has frequently been compared to that of Jack Bruce.----------*----------Adrian Johnson (Drums and vocals): Adrian is a drummer with a long pedigree, playing with amateur and semi-professional pop and rock bands in the London area in the 1980’s. During the 1990’s and in the new millennium Adrian has performed in a duet with a singer/guitarist playing in Leicestershire. Adrian is deeply knowledgeable about the rudiments of percussion and rhythm including world influences and plays with an uncluttered method. Adrian's influences are ian Paice.----------*----------Peter Shaw (Harmonica and percussion): Peter plays harmonica with a style based on his love of the blues but with additional progressive variances and a use of sound modulation to enhance tonal palette. This transforms Peter’s contribution to background accompaniment as well as solo instrumental passages. This is evidenced by his haunting contribution to the Peter Green composition ‘Black Magic Woman’. Peter has played with bluegrass, blues, rock and jazz bands. Peter’s alternative involvement as a percussionist gives ‘Short Notice’ a further dimension.----------*----------Peter Head (Percussion): Peter plays congas, bongos and a wide variety of untuned percussion accessories which work in harmony with Adrian and Peter Barkle to give a strong rhythm section. Peter’s experience is long and his accomplished skills hard won. Peter is drummer with Midlands sensations the 'Boskats'.----------*----------Christopher Green (Guitar and slide guitar; http://www.myspace.com/masterslide): Playing around Cambridgeshire thence in Leeds and Nottinghamshire with a number of ensembles through 1970’s and 1980’s was teamed with helpings of session work. The last decade has been devoted to the study of music theory and collaborations with others. Christopher is a fusion player where an early background in blues gave way to a heavy jazz influence. Here his major influences are Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Pat Metheny, AlDimeola and Scott Henderson. Additionally Christopher’s playing involves slide guitar in open tunings following his mentors Lowell george and more recently Sonny Landreth. In the last year Christopher has played guitar for London based singing sensation Delia Spiers (http://www.myspace.com/deliaspiers) on the tour release of her debut CD ‘Scarlit’, for soul sensation Fiona Springer (http://www.myspace.com/fionasinger) and most recently with country pop singer/songwriter Maria ‘Lexie’ Green (http://www.myspace.com/lexiegreen).
