NEWSTeenage Irish band “The Deans†record with Rory Gallagher. In August 2006, Kit Woolven, legendary engineer and producer of Thin Lizzy and Pink Floyd’s Dave Gilmore, watched young Irish rock group "The Deans" perform at a sold-out concert in Richmond, West London. He immediately offered to work with them. In early autumn The Deans achieved a goal, which has eluded some of the greatest players on Earth. On October 27th, 28th and 29th The Deans performed to capacity audiences at the prestigious “Guinness Cork International Jazz Festivalâ€. Following that triumph “The Deans†immediately commenced recording with four of the greatest guitarists in rock history. The band began laying down tracks with Henry McCullough (Paul McCartney's Wings, Joe Cocker), Jackie McAuley (Van Morrison, Rick Wakeman), Johnny Fean (Horslips) and Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy). In February 2007, Gavin Dean, Gary Dean and Gary Keon will fulfill the dream of every rock band in the world when they record with the late, great Rory Gallagher. Rory’s brother, Donal Gallagher, has given the critically acclaimed young Irish rock band permission to record with Rory’s original multi-track. The above list is an amazing endorsement of the rock and blues credentials of The Deans. There's now a stampede by many of the world’s finest artists to work with now seventeen-year-old guitar genius Gavin Dean.
Eric Bell described Gavin Dean as "a cross between my old pal Rory Gallagher and early Johnny Winter, it was a thrill to record with The Deans. They are a breath of fresh air……….no hype, no BS, just raw talent".
On completing his recordings with The Deans, Jackie McAuley said, "Ireland has pulled it off again, we have another rock giant. Gavin plays the blues like a veteran. The sessions we did together will remain with me forever".
Johnny Fean comments, "Gavin Dean is the real deal, a true prodigy. The Deans have everything they need to take on the world. Their album is in my car with Hendrix, Clapton and Jeff Beck.......need I say any more?â€
Henry McCullough says, "There's an explosion happening in the town of Athenry which will soon be heard all over the world and it’s called The Deans. I loved every minute of our time together in the recording studio. I felt quite emotional watching Gavin Dean play the Gibson Les Paul that I used with Joe Cocker at Woodstock, the same guitar I used on “My Love†with Paul McCartney". . The Deans were formed in February of 2006. The band consists of three very talented musicians. Gavin Dean is the lead guitarist and vocalist, his older brother Gary plays bass and Gary Keon is on drums. The Dean Brothers have being playing together for the last three years, with different drum and vocal artists. In June 2006 the Deans released their sensational debut album called One. 2006 was highlighted by a string of highly acclaimed gigs which included the "Rory Gallagher International Tribute Festival" The Cork Jazz festival and a tour of London's music clubs with help from their photographer Gary Murphy. Gary Keons first gig with The Deans was a showcase gig in Galway’s Town Hall Theater with Irish rock legends Henry McCullough and Johnny Fean proved that he could hold his own with anyone. A vast majority of the Deans set is their own original material with a few blues interaptations throw in.
THE DEANS ONE The album has 11 tracks, with 8 original tracks in the style of true classic blues/rock . They were written and composed by Gavin Dean.
