Kartagon is the songwriter / producer Thomas Daverio and the singer / lyricist Johannes Barth. The Swiss duo has renewed a musical collaboration going back as far as 1990. PANIC ON THE TITANIC as they were then called, was heavily into the melodious, multilayered dark wave/electro/industrial scene. As of 1996, three CD albums with two different German record companies were produced.
After a long break, in the end of 2001, they returned to the recording studio, focusing on a new musical concept.
A unique mixture combining danceable dark-electro and future-pop has been created. The sound harks back to the "golden 80s" with its typical song structures, but on the other hand breaks are made from those rigid structures constantly. The multi-layered arrangements produce a full and electronic wall-of-sound, which is sometimes being mixed with heavy guitar patterns, while still maintaining a solid foundation for the melodic vocals.
In December 2002, Kartagon were signed by the German label Strange Ways Records.
The first single is "Pure Love" and was released in April 2003, the debut album debut album "natural instincts" was released in May 2003. And in late 2003, "The Hunter" as a promotional single only distributed to DJ's was released.
After lots of remixes done for various artists and Thomas Daverio's still active collaboration in the Swiss band FAQ, Kartagon will be back for new song material very soon. Stay tuned!
