I will be gone until May 22 and only checking in at random until then.

About Me

There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "May be," the farmer replied. The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "May be," replied the old man. The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "May be," answered the farmer. The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. "May be," said the farmer.

My Interests

Word spread across the countryside about the wise Holy Man who lived in a small house atop the mountain. A man from the village decided to make the long and difficult journey to visit him. When he arrived at the house, he saw an old servant inside who greeted him at the door. "I would like to see the wise Holy Man," he said to the servant. The servant smiled and led him inside. As they walked through the house, the man from the village looked eagerly around the house, anticipating his encounter with the Holy Man. Before he knew it, he had been led to the back door and escorted outside. He stopped and turned to the servant, "But I want to see the Holy Man!""You already have," said the old man. "Everyone you may meet in life, even if they appear plain and insignificant... see each of them as a wise Holy Man. If you do this, then whatever problem you brought here today will be solved."The most violent element in society is ignorance.A bird doesn't sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. For some reason everyone thinks that my husband looks like him or they used to when he wore glasses which Tom Hanks does not. Now that James got the Lasik and is sans glasses strangers no longer walk up to him and tell him he looks like Hanks. Odd. They say that we all have a twin. Mine is in Nova Scotia. When I was in Ontario for a Baha'i conference 20 years ago everyone thought that I was her. I'd like to meet her too.Two monks were washing their bowls in the river when they noticed a scorpion that was drowning. One monk immediately scooped it up and set it upon the bank. In the process he was stung. He went back to washing his bowl and again the scorpion fell in. The monk saved the scorpion and was again stung. The other monk asked him, "Friend, why do you continue to save the scorpion when you know it's nature is to sting?" "Because," the monk replied, "to save it is my nature."Here is a brief list of things you can do to help sharks:Dive and snorkel with sharks. Add to My Profile | More VideosDescription: For filmmaker Rob Stewart, exploring sharks began as an underwater adventure. What it turned into was a beautiful and dangerous life journey into the balance of life on earth.Driven by passion fed from a lifelong fascination with sharks, Stewart debunks historical stereotypes and media depictions of sharks as bloodthirsty, man-eating monsters and reveals the reality of sharks as pillars in the evolution of the seas.Filmed in visually stunning, high definition video, Sharkwater takes you into the most shark rich waters of the world, exposing the exploitation and corruption surrounding the world's shark populations in the marine reserves of Cocos Island, Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador. In an effort to protect sharks, Stewart teams up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Their unbelievable adventure together starts with a battle between the Sea Shepherd and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.Through it all, Stewart discovers these magnificent creatures have gone from predator to prey, and how despite surviving the earth's history of mass extinctions, they could easily be wiped out within a few years due to human greed.Stewart's remarkable journey of courage and determination changes from a mission to save the world's sharks, into a fight for his life, and that of humankind.

Movies:

Has anyone ever noticed how all of Tom Hanks' movies are sad? Even the comedies. All are sad in some way. Think about it. And why does Edward Norton have to take his shirt off in every movie? Or why does John Cusack get rained on in every movie that he's in?Phantom of the Opera (2004), Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction, Rent, Clerks, Across the Universe, Quick Change, The Blues Brothers, Station Agent, Forrest Gump, The Jerk, Napoleon Dynamite, The Royal Tenenbaums, Walk the Line, Hard Eight, Blow, The Pursuit of HappYness, The Family Stone, Love Actually, Cast Away, Remains of the Day, The Big Lebowski, Sense and Sensibility, I Got the Hook Up, Gangs of New York.
