Each with at least 10 years of history making hip hop music, Wild Life Refuge is a culmination of these slow cooked skills. In 2005 Jelts The Broken Artist, Idolize The MC, and Rashenal all came together to form Wild Life Refuge. The ingredients to this recipe are quite an exquisite combination of sounds and experiences that set Wild Life Refuge worlds apart from other conventional hip hop groups. Its this diversity that allows them to connect with so many different types of people and play for crowds ranging from any sort of hip hop to even metal shows, and still be loved for their talents and charisma.
On tour heading towards Dallas in an old spray paint decorated Econline Tour Van, they drove more than 15 hours through the night for a show they had the next day. The drive was treacherous and monotonous but everyone maintained a sense of excitement looking forward to rocking another crowd. This love for the music and the culture is what drove them to make it successfully and play without sleep. Right before the show while driving around in Dallas, the van broke down and they had to get a ride from the promoter to make it to the show on time. Without worry about how they would get home they rocked the show and then finally got some much needed rest. The next day with a quick trip to Auto Zone and Idolize's supreme mechanic skills, the Tour Van was revived and able to continue on its way.
This is only one of the many tour stories that Wild Life Refuge will tell you and they are all just as enjoyable. They have played shows collectively in Phoenix, Tempe, Tucson, Flagstaff, San Diego, Los Angeles, Murrieta, Las Vegas, Reno, Colorado, Dallas, Santa Fe, and more. All of these tours are self organized and promoted by Earsweat Records, which is Wild Life Refuge's very own established independent label.
In 2006 Earsweat Records released Wild Life Refuge's latest full-length release, "Tomorrows Last Try" by Jelts & Idolize and it has been quite a successful release. The Album has been reviewed with very high regards by various media outlets such as The Phoenix New Times, The Zia Zine, Insomniac Magazine, The Suicide Journalist, and has sold out of stock in several Zia Records locations.
There are quite a few projects lined up for 2007 including "Human Block" which is a collaboration effort between Jelts on all production and Rashenal on all vocals. This is going to be a full flavored six course meal full of hip hop goodness that includes a very new and distinct sound coming from these two gentleman. Jelts has a brand new record almost complete called "Music For Her" and Idolize is currently working on a new concept album as well. Also coming in 2007 are two free albums available for download @ www.wildlifecrew.com, Jelts' "Sunset In The City" instrumental album and DJ Reflekshin's "Burnt Toast" mix album.
Wild Life Refuge is a fresh new collection of sounds that has been simmering for years and is finally coming to fruition. Each member has their own projects they set focus on, while also creating as a group to bring a refreshing medley of flavor and creativity to the table. Music is food for the soul and Wild Life Refuge serves up the entrees with passion and flavor.
