- The short of it: Taito Reed, guitarist/vocalist from Junk Sick Dawn moved to Tokyo, Japan in 2005 after 12 years of solid rock and rolling and touring the West Coast of the United States. Now, Taito plays with the amazing Ayato Kawakita of AKG (Ayato Kawakita Group) on drums, and the hard-rocking punk pioneer Tabata Mitsuru, founder member of The Boredoms and now of Zeni Geva, Amazon Saliva and Acid Mothers Temple on bass. Noise Clinic is now working with Loves In Heat Records: http://www.lovesinheatrecords.com . Currently playing in and around Tokyo, Japan. Rock the house, and don't come up - even for air.

What some said:
"Junk Sick Dawn de-constructs punk and rebuilds it with skewed pop and indie rock sensibilities soldered in... 'Headache', the trio's contribution to the Monkey Magnet compilation 'Santa Cruz Sucks' is a rollicking tune reminiscent of 30.06 and Slint." - (RM) Willamette Week, Portland Oregon.
"This is cognitive music that constantly cradles the boundaries between flashy entertainer and tortured soul." - (MK) - Metro Santa Cruz, Ca.
"Combining a healthy dose of punk aesthetic and aggression with poetic lyrics and catchy melodies, their sound was immediately recognizable in the Santa Cruz scene, and for that matter, anywhere else. For a general sense of their sonic soundscape,
imagine what The Pixies, Nirvana, Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd and the Sex Pistols might sound like blasting from the stereo of big red convertible barreling down a desert highway in the middle of bat country on the
way to Vegas." S. McCourt, 2003

- The long of it:
In the summer of 1993, Taito and his good friend and drummer Graham decided to make a band that could play out in clubs. They found a bass player, James, and Junk Sick Dawn was born (the name is from "Naked Lunch" by William S. Burroughs). Their plan was to destroy all rational thought, to build songs with texture and mood as well as volume, feedback. They began to record and play the hell out of Santa Cruz and the surrounding areas from El Cahoun, California to as far a Vancouver, Canada. There were some great and terrible times on the road, like playing teenage punk rock freakouts in Seattle (Uncle Rocky's!!!) and Portland (watching a standoff between groups of punks and greasers like it was The Outsiders or something), that time they rocked 3rd Street Basement to the ground to name just a few epic sagas. There were many shows in front of 300-plus people, playing huge heavy-metal nightmare venues, in basements and 24-hour Technicolor house parties. Graham, James and Taito worked with IUMA in the early stone age of the Internet to eventually end up working with (name deleted as per attorney) of the P*** Spectre camp and released two singles, "California" and "Bag of Brown" through Offline Records on a compilation called "Crunchy Smacks". The song "California" was very well received and is also featured on the amazing surf video "Monster Mavericks" (still available through the good people at obsurf shop, http://www.obsurfshop.com - thanks to Mark Matovich!). They recorded a 12" record called "Hasta Que La Muerte", which features such classics as "Dip pid", "These Days", "Barfly" and "Monkey". Also a few singles were recorded, including "Headache" and "Not Friends" which along with "Hasta Que La Muerte" hit Number One on the local KZSC college radio station for a time.
In all of that, there were some lineup changes - James had to split after his hands got messed up making it painful for him to continue the steady touring schedule, taking his place was Russ from the Santa Cruz band Poppy, Graham had left and Mike Mechanic, the Monkey Magnet guru, took his place, and after that another Mike, Michael Shapiro, took Mechanic's place. Then Taito moved to San Francisco to be closer to Russ and Shapiro, and had a studio space in this giant place that was so big it must have had about half the SF music scene in it. Junk Sick Dawn toured and played wild local shows, even one from on top of a high-rise downtown building with a 1100-watt P.A. system that interrupted a Giants baseball game at Monster Park (then named Pac-Bell Park), a re-enactment of a hanging/gallows scene from Naked Lunch in the middle of Northbeach, SF, and aboard a yacht in SF bay cruising and terrorizing all with loud rock and roll like the pirates they were. They also got a few spots on The WB News and local radio.
Junk Sick Dawn played with everyone from Skin Yard, Granite Path, Ruins, Chokebore, Exploding Crustaceans, Good Riddance, Depth Charge Revolt, Brian Kenny Fresno, Captured! By Robots, Oliver Brown, Headcase-O-Matic, The Fucking Champs, E is for Elephant, Bastinado, Wash Me, Zeek Sheck, Lo-Fi Neisans, Three Day Stubble, Tanner, Schloss, Slow Gherkin, The Ugly Janitors of America, Tsunami Bomb, a gang-like chorus line of strippers, and The Gorehounds to Ass Baboons of Venus.
Junk Sick Dawn was recording at Hyde Street Studios in San Francisco and, poised on a breakthrough. Well it all stopped rather quickly when drummer Mike Shapiro died in a car accident in Costa Rica while on a surfing vacation along with two of his friends that were in the car with him. He will always be missed, he was a good friend and a fantastic drummer - one of the best around. Junk Sick Dawn never recovered from the loss. Junk Sick Dawn is now in a hiatus of an unknown period of time.Through all of this, Tait had again connected with James, the original JSD bass player, and formed, along with Tom Hale ..s and Mike Silva from Assyst on drums, Noise Clinic. The idea originally was as a side project when JSD was looking for the replacement for Mike Mechanic (yes, it's confusing - many Mikes). Then later the band became a platform for Tait to play solo.
