ALEX MARI
BIOGRAPHY
Alex Mari was born on the 3rd January 1981 in Ferrara. His passion for music starts when he's still very young, but it's during the summer of '92 that he begins playing guitar, an instrument he deeply loves. He realizes that music is part of his life now, so he decides in 1999 to start studying guitar seriously, at first with a teacher named Michele Cannella and then with Luca Longhini. In 2003 Alex believes that he can also contribute with his voice, so he takes singing lessons with Gloria Aleotti until the Decembre 2007 when he start his lessons with Michele Luppi
. He also starts collaborating as session guitarist with different artists such as Luca Longhini, Renato Droghetti, Big Leo, F.P.C. and joining an Iron Maiden tribute band called Darkstalkers as lead singer.
His long-time band Ophiura, where he plays guitars and sings, has recently released a self-produced Ep entitled Ancestral Whispers, recorded at Zenith Recording Studios by Frank Andiver in Lucca, in a strictly limited edition of 500 copies.
OPHIURA is the band where Alex puts the most of his efforts, hoping and believing in this project he created in December 2002 with Gianluca Pisana (ex drummer), which was still called O.D.U at the time. O.D.U was formed to create original compositions of any genre with italian lyrics. After years of hard work, ups and downs and many line-up changes, on the 28th August 2006 the band gets its name changed for good from O.D.U to Ophiura, being Alex the only member left of the original formation. The sound now is more metal, the lyrics are translated into english while the songs are re-adapted to the music influences brought by the new band members. Ophiura are currently working on the creation of a new album.
BIOGRAFIA
Alex Mari nasce .il 3 gennaio del 1981 a Ferrara.. Comincia ad appassionarsi alla musica fin da piccolo ma solo nell’estate ’92 imbraccia la chitarra, strumento per il quale nutre una passione sfrenata. Nella sua mente cresce la consapevolezza che la musica è parte della sua vita e decide cosi, nel 1999, di cominciare a studiare seriamente lo strumento, da prima col insegnante Michele Cannella e in seguito con Luca Longhini. Nel 2003 si fortifica la convinzione di potere dare qualcosa anche con la propria voce, così decide di recarsi a lezione da Gloria Aleotti fino a dicembre 2007 quando comincia le lezioni con Michele Luppi.
Da qui comincia a collaborare come chitarrista turnista in diverse band dagli svariati generi musicali e con diversi artisti come Luca Longhini, Renato Droghetti, Big Leo, F.P.C.; entrando, nel 2005, come cantante nella formazione Dark Stalker (tribute band Iron Maiden).
Attualmente con gli OPHIURA, sua band storica dove ne è voce e chitarra, ha inciso l EP auto prodotto “Ancestral Whispers†registrato agli Zenith Recordings di Frank Andiver a Lucca e rilasciato in edizione limitata di 500 copie.
OPHIURA è la band dove Alex ha riversato, e riversa tutt’ora, la maggior parte delle proprie forze e speranze credendo in un progetto da lui creato, insieme a Gianluca Pisana (ex batterista), nel Dicembre 2002 con il nome di O.D.U. Esso nasce con l’obbiettivo di creare pezzi inediti di qualsiasi genere con testi in italiano.
Dopo anni di alti e bassi, duro lavoro e cambi di line up, il 28 Agosto 2006 essendo Alex l’unico rimasto dalla formazione iniziale, si decide di cambiare nome alla band e dare un impronta più metal traducendo i testi in inglese e riadattando leggermente i brani alla nuova corrente musicale apportata dai nuovi componenti.
La band è già al lavoro per la creazione del prossimo album.
