Shallow Water Grave formed in mid 2003, forged on the idea of creating melodic heavy metal with thrash and hardcore influences. Since its inception, the band has strived to create music with emotion and drive behind it without falling prey to the pitfalls and gimmicks that are common in heavy music today. Shallow Water Grave, however are somewhat of an odd combination; that is to say they incorporate song structure and tend to have a common thread in their songs, but still manage to keep their music extremely heavy and fresh.
In January 2004 Shallow Water Grave went in to the studio to record what would be their first demos for Persist and Persevere and The Darker Side of Truth, both featured in newly recorded and original demo version on their debut EP. The appearance of, one time, Shai Hulud frontman Geert Van Der Velde on these recordings garnered some attention and the band quickly gained a following within both the metal and hardcore scene. Fast forward to April of 2004 which again saw the band going into the studio to record another two tracks, this time In The Aftermath and an untitled song that would become what is now The Depths To Which We Sink. Aside from the internet, neither demo ever saw the light of day. It was during the second recording session that Innerstrength Records label head, Jason Curnow contacted the band about the possibility of signing them. Soon after these sessions Shallow Water Grave signed to Innerstrength records and began to work on new material for a debut release.
Despite some bumps in the road, member changes, and nearly a year of recording and re-recording, Shallow Water Grave have finally come through with their debut EP, Suspension Of Disbelief. Shallow Water Grave continues to work hard and tour in support of Suspension Of Disbelief which was released March 28, 2006 through Innerstrength Records.
