J-vanvex [pronounced J-varn vex] an eighties baby born with a silver tongue not silver spoon in his mouth. In his pram people knew this boy had something to offer and therefore offered his mother gifts for her playful and cute baby. Fast forward twenty odd years and not much has changed for this charismatic individual quick-witted and notoriously mischievous, J-vanvex is truly infectious whether on the microphone addressing the masses or talking quietly in a corner on a level. He cut his teeth freestyling over an eight bar loop on a sample machine with his first group ‘Secret Service’. After the group parted ways creatively he then joined a sound ‘Ghetto Fabulous Cru’ and started frequenting the rave circuit. Using the skills for rhyme he’d developed in ‘Service’ to cut through the heavy bass of garage dubs in the early 00’s along with his ‘Cru’ he soon got noticed and given a regular slot on ‘Freak Fm’ the top pirate radio station of the time. It wasn’t long before DJ Devstar, No-bizzi, and J-vanvex rolling under the alias of Slayer was being hailed as the next Heartless Crew. Unfortunately Freak Fm was taken off air for good during the Garage backlash and ‘Ghetto Fabulous’ was dragged into a nasty legal battle over the patenting of the name. This caused friction within the camp, which resulted in its demise. But, J stayed on the grind and along with Devstar bought equipment with the mind set to make beats and push out their own material. And that they did with backing from studying music production at college. Forming A.K.A the lone two pillars still standing after the destruction of the great house that was ‘Ghetto Fabulous Cru’. J-vanvex took this opportunity to nurture his skills and mould himself into an artist not just a rapper, not just an MC, but a creator painting pictures in your mind as he weaves words into rhyme. Evoking feelings and commenting on social issues from his point of view all over beats you can’t help but bop your head to. His flow is erratic but calm suave but rough, smart but tough. It’s hard not to get engrossed in the energy he exudes as he gives you a tour through his mind’s eye in his latest offering ‘Parched’ from ‘A.K.A presents’ after the well received ‘Chicken Shop Drama’s vol1.’ In which both he and Devstar show cased their lyrical ability, over base heavy beats with infectious melodies and hypnotic hooks. Laced by none other than J-vanvex gelling hard hitting lyrics and catchy choruses making them bangers that’ll bounce around between your ears for days on end. He I s a rising star with the sole intention of putting British talent in the spot light, a born leader this man has a vision that few can see but those that cant see will in time as those who cant lead will surly follow.
