Well i was born in the City of Manchester in the UK a great City by the way and i have been playing fiddle professionally for nearly twenty years now. I started playing when i was thirteen years old after returning to the UK from Roscommon in the west of Ireland.
My brother introduced me to a friend of his called Vin Grainger who was teaching fiddle and various other intruments at the time, well after about a year or so and still at school i would go to all the Irish sessions i could get to in and around the back streets of Mani learning how to drink large amounts of Guinness and play tunes at the same time (Lovely!)
My first tour was with a band called fluenze when i was Sixteen the band played lovely steady tunes with Lin Persival and Vini Short on the vocals we went up to Scotland then across to to the isle of mull and had a ball.
After leaving school in 1988 i formed the band Jack Alley with some like minded friends and we hit the road, playing all over the UK.
In 1991, I joined the Celtic rock band (Toss The Feathers) who were based in my hometown of Manchester. The band travelled all over Europe and Scandinavia, playing a huge amount of gigs, and drinking vast quantities of beer along the way we even entered the Guinness Book of Folk for most gigs played in a year, 278 or something like that recording the album (The Awakening) on the odd day off . shortly after this i joined peter Carberry in his band Skidoo which was another great experience for me. I now live in the Dublin Ireland but love to head out west and go Fly fishing as much as i can. Since moving to Ireland i have been fotunate enough to have met many great people and have apeared on stage with some fantastic musicians/ bands like,
The Damien Dempsey Band, Arty McGlynne, Nolaige Casey, Sharon Shannon, Mairtin Oconner, John Sheehan, Frankie Gavin, Cahal Hayden, Tim OBrian, Grada, Slide, Dolorus Keane, Cathy Ryan, I curently play with Sean Keane and his band
