Landing on the Moon

Work on a new album has begun!

About Me

Landing on the Moon was born on November 22, 2004. Its members consist of Oliver J. Morgan (Little Brazil), Megan Morgan (music graduate of University of Nebraska, Omaha), Eric Harris (guitarist turned bass player), Shawn Cox (No Blood Orphan / Lifeafter Laserdisque), and John Klemmensen (Microphone Jones, Satchel Grande). The overall sound is very thick, involving two guitars, heavy bass, busy drums, and is mostly driven by piano. The band's composition is shared. The vocal duties are split between John, Megan, and Oliver. Each member has a long history of music, but in different facets. This band is the after-product of many different incarnations from before, that involved members of Landing on the Moon. This is a very tight-knit group of friends. Almost entirely family. It contains a husband and wife, a brother, and two best friends. The band made its live debut in Omaha on June 18, 2005 and released it's completely self-recorded and self-produced debut CD, entitled "LOtM EP" in January of 2006. The band completed it's first US tour in August of 2006. Plans are currently in the works to return to the studio to record new material and for more tour dates in 2007!"Its like we weave this cloth together that makes sound and sooner or later we end up Landing on the Moon. Cosmic!"

Sounds Like: "When it comes to identity, Landing on the Moon has it in spades -- the Omaha, NE five piece has three vocalists including an intense woman keyboard player, a dynamic over-the-top drummer and a bigger-than-life guitarist who wears his soul on his sleeve. They take chances with styles and dynamics, merging sprawling, poignant album rock with modern, quirky, post-rock tendencies. Whether you like them or not (and certainly those looking for standard-ish jangle-pop indie probably won't), you have to admire their bravado in playing a style of music -- with honesty and determination -- that no other bands are even attempting right now."

"Landing on the Moon had just began their set, where they revealed a handful of new songs that are dramatically different than their old material. It's not a completely different sound, but rather a better one, thanks to arrangements that take advantage of their melodies and guitars. A few of the new ones ended with lengthy repeated (heavy) grooves that never went too long or became boring. The band says they're getting ready to enter the studio to lay down the new stuff." ~ June 22nd, 2007
