About Me

BAD SECTS 12" Single
Last Fall Cursive launched a remix site which allowed users to register and download separated tracks for the album track "Bad Sects." Remixers submitted their rearranged visions and versions to Saddle Creek for the Bad Sects Remix Contest. Cursive listened to all the remixes, posted some of their favorites on the site and chose the winning remix to be used as a B-side on a future Cursive single.
"Bad Sects," the second single from Happy Hollow, is available digitally and as a 12" LP featuring the winning remix by A Crude Mechanical along with a strings remix done by a friend of the band (Olafur Arnolds), the album cut and instrumental. The five runner-up remixes are available for listening at www.badsects.com.
Track List:
1. Bad Sects (album version)
2. Bad Sects (instrumental)
3. Bad Sects (A Crude Mechanical Mix)
4. Bad Sects (String Quartet Arrangement)
HAPPY HOLLOW
What people are saying about Happy Hollow:
“Cursive haven't just redefined their sound--they've transcended it.” 5/5 Alternative Press
- URB
“Kasher has traded such woe-is-me sentiment for a set of more engaging musical arrangements, applying booming gospel voices and Dixieland horns to his band’s spastic art-rock posturing” - Spin
- Time Out New York
“Happy Hollow wrestles with big issues … but the band attacks them with zeal: brisk tempos, muscular riffs, and blasts of melody” A- & Pick of the Week - Entertainment Weekly
“Brains and Brawn” The A List - Entertainment Weekly
“True American Gothic” - Harp
“...furiously gear-shifting punk-pop, full of horn blasts and arty production tricks ... never fails to rock the sermon.” - Blender
"Cursive's most focused and evolved record yet...(their) best ever." - Nylon
"Another fiery, sardonic album. Grade: A." - The Onion
"'Retreat' is the the best "letter to the Almighty" pop song since 'Dear God' by XTC." - Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times
"It's rather brilliant...a personal (and personnel) triumph for the band." - Magnet
“Where other indie-rock lover boys are content to play cute, he asks questions, makes demands, promises impossibilities, exploring the ugly places in the heart. But that’s why he’s an original, testifying about love with the conviction of a young indie Springsteen” - Rolling Stone
"HAPPY HOLLOW swings with the nutty abandon of Madness, sharpened with the literate punk frenzy of Fugazi." - Mojo
