Twilight Armada (New Video)

Twilight Armada — Rising from the ashes of departed alt-poppers MiKenPike, brothers Andrew and Josh Pike teamed up with ex-Burns Out Bright drummer Chris Shirah to form this emotive outfit; the band’s self-titled disc, released last year, betrayed an equal fondness for Northwestern indie rock and Southeastern jangle-pop. The then-trio’s since added second guitarist Bryan Hatchell, whose playing, as evidenced on the gorgeous “The Colors Are Falling Off,” fits the band well; like Sunny Day Real Estate or Mineral, the emphasis here is on loud-quiet dynamics and melodic guitar-bass interplay. -P.
